Automatic Conversion in Edit Page[edit]

How to implement “When save page, server only save ‘original text’”?-- Hello World! 15:18 2007年1月4日 (UTC) (moved form ko:사용자토론:Masoris)

To send original text with ruby when user edit page, so each character has original data and converted data, seems like ruby-ed character has two different information in on character. When someone want to edit any page, Wikipedia display just ruby(converted) data, and when save, Wikipedia save original data not ruby. --Masoris 15:32, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So it seems it would need a bit of programming. First, one needs to do a diff between the stored and converted version, to parse it and show you the ruby version. What if you delete some characters, and then readd them? Will they still be in ruby? So, you probably need some javascript for highlighting as you type. And finally, when saving, you need a diff again to see what user has changed, or somehow you need to know what is the variant of the in-database variant to reconvert stuff to it - e.g. all articles in database could always be saved into one variant, e.g. zh-tw, but to migrate the existing system you would need to reconvert all articles in the database. I wrote more detaily about In Editing, Save Page and Functions in User:Masoris/Edit Page Suggestion for Automatic Conversion System. But I don’t understand - way be because my English ability :( - what you saying about variant and database, my suggestion is just likes overlay to the characters to edit comfortable. So there are no other changes, but client send original data not ruby, when save data. --Masoris 05:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My question is: Let's say the text is written in zh-cn, and I edit it in zh-tw. And I add a new section in zh-tw script. Will the database have mixed scripts? Half simplified, half traditional? Rainman 13:05, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I saw many mixed scripts in edit page of Chinese Wikipedia. But, when read articles, it seems likes no problem, to read by automatic conversion system. And it will be batter to manage, to use one mixed scripts in database. --Masoris 16:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
