Hi Miloš,

thanks for copying the text Westdeutsche in der DDR und Nach-DDR. However, this text does not have any encyclopedic value. I'm sorry that this particular user (thomasx1) is trying to copy this text to any non-German wikipedia. -- Mathias Schindler 08:18, 2 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Srpski jezik

No, o tom potom. Ostalo kasnije (dotjerivanje i sl.). Mir Harven 19:03, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Romsko srpski jezik

Interesting... I don't find myself irresponsible. However... I've asked for deletion of those articles, they really were stupid. I'm sorry, I've made confuse in Wikipedia. It was a little joke. Sorry again.--Ђорђе Д. Божовић 12:25, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Addin Mass Content

Hi Millosh, sorry for being very short, but I believe that what you want to do can be quite easily achieved with Wikidata using already now WiktionaryZ to get the main parts (country names etc.) translated there. WiktionaryZ is built on Wikidata or better Wikidata is being developed thanks to WiktionaryZ. Being it a relational database you can create queries the boxes can be implemented in the pages having then also a normal editing box. It is already there - it is only a question of time to get it to the level where it can be included in Mediawiki. This will help for all "common data". I also wrote two blogs that deal with that [1] and [2]. Sorry for not taking more time now. I have to finish a job to be delivered this week. Best, --Sabine 12:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ego and his own

Hello. I don't know anything about what is happening on Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Montenegrin, but Ego and his own has asked to be unblocked. Assuming good faith, I have unblocked him under the following conditions:

<guillom|busy> Ego_and_his_own, i propose to unblock you to let you edit a subpage of your userpage and *only* this page
<guillom|busy> on this page you can write a summary of what you have written here
<guillom|busy> and of course, if you troll, you will be blocked again
<guillom|busy> comment ?
<Ego_and_his_own> sound good to me. Can you give me more info on "troll"? What I souldnt do?
<guillom|busy> you should write a text that is as neutral as possible
<guillom|busy> just write down the facts
<Ego_and_his_own> ok I wil, do my best
<guillom|busy> are you ok with that ?
<guillom|busy> ok
<guillom|busy> i leave a message to millosh and i unblock you

Please tell me if you are ok with that. Thanks. guillom 14:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia projects are not for nation-building

I left you a post on the talk page of the article. You are promoting false information, and threaten to use administrative powers to impose false information. This is not normal. Dpotop 16:42, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The blocking of Dpotop

Hi Millosh. Dpotop has contacted me about your blocking of him for one day, which he feels is unjustified. I also believe that this block was unjustified and applied unfairly, particularly considering that you were involved directly in the dispute at Wikimedia projects are not for nation-building, and no clear motive was given to him as to why he was blocked. The general practice in these cases is for you to contact a third-party admin to impose a block if such a block is necessary. Additionally, it is also important to remember that, due to its internal nature, Meta-Wikimedia is not subject to the same policies as the English Wikipedia, and there is no need for blocking unless something very serious takes place (i.e. Meta policies don't need to be as strict due to the target audience). This is particularly important since, in the given article, you reverted a piece of information that is questionable: "Moldovan in the process of assimilation with Romanian nation". In both Romania and Moldova, this is known as a "unionist" viewpoint, generally held by nationalists (it's similar to the Kosovo unionist stance in Serbia). Although in Romania the unionist, "assimiliationist" view is quite popular, there is no reliable evidence to point to a cultural convergence between the two nations or the two languages. In fact, I could argue that, due to the process of nation-building, Moldovan culture is moving further away from Romanian culture, in the same way that Montenegrin culture is diverging from Serbian culture. In any case, Dpotop's editing history on the English Wikipedia points to the fact that he is not a troll or a vandal, and he generally places an emphasis on dialogue and negotiation. For that reason, I feel the block in unjustified. Name-calling such as "POV pusher vandal" is also unhelpful. Thanks, Ronline 07:35, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi again. I fail to see the relevance of your comment "Second, you are involved party, not me. I am not from Romania" other than to make a rather discriminatory jab. Perhaps I did not interpret your comment correctly, but you seem to be alluding to the fact that just because I am Romanian, I am bound to have a bias towards Romanian users, and thus I am not allowed to question any of your admin actions. As an online community, at Wikipedia we should not look at people's ethnicity when determining their value (this should not be done anywhere, actually). In any case, what I mean by "involved party" is that you also participated significantly in that article, and you were one of the parties to the dispute with Dpotop, reverting his edits and the such. As an involved party, it is generally frowned upon to use punitive measures such as blocks; it can be interpreted as a case of admin abuse to silence your opponents. Lastly, I am simply making an inquiry into a block which I feel is unjustified, particularly in the context of Meta. If you feel that your block was correct, then please enlighten me as to why. After all, as an admin, you need to have accountability for your actions, and I have not see you give a detailed reason for your block, either on Dpotop's talk page or in the blocking log. Thanks, Ronline 04:13, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Millosh - all I asked for was a justification. You have managed to reply back to me in a round-about way and accused me of being "an advocate of POV pushing vandal", when you could've simply given a quick explanation of your actions, in the way that a responsible admin should do. This tells me that you're actually trying not to work with other users in a collaborative manner. To me, Dpotop is not a POV-pushing vandal, and I invite you to ask around on the English Wikipedia to people who have opposing views to him, and find out what they think. Please, stop judging people so harshly and be prepared for dialogue and for review of your admin actions by third parties. It's the only way that Wikipedia works. [edit] Re: Possible problem in planet config

Hi Millosh, Cool, thank you for updating the feeds for WordPress. I used to think that all feeds were created equal, but since getting emailed the cron output from wikiblogplanet, I see that some feeds are badly formatted, some sites go up and down regularly, etc - so any assistance with keeping the feeds current and functional is appreciated. Also, there isn't any anti-spam software on the planet - it's just a fairly dumb bit of software that gets a series of feeds, and displays their posts in chronological order. It doesn't know anything about what it's showing, and doesn't vet it or spam check or do anything to it - it just spits out what it gets, with the only advantage being that it's all combined in one place. -- All the best, Nickj 06:16, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Board elections 2008

Hi Millosh,

The 2008 board elections will be in a few months (1 to 14 June) and the election committee is looking for people willing to translate the election pages into various languages. I noticed that you seem to be interested in Meta translations en>sr. Would you be available and interested in translating the board election pages into Serbian? I'm looking for at least two people per language so no one translator feels overwhelmed, so they can mutually proofread each other and help each other out as needed, but if only one is available that is fine as well. (To get an idea of how much work is involved you can take a look at last year's election pages.)

If you are not available or are not interested, it would be nice if you could point me in the direction of users who might be interested in helping, or show them this message.

Please contact me on my Meta page (User talk:Arria Belli), where you can write to me in either English, French, Spanish or Italian, whichever you feel most comfortable with.

Happy editing,

hi, you can take a look here and here
the first script we want to write the tachlhit wikipedia with is Tifinagh the full list of 33 character of tifinagh . and the second one is the latin one which contains latin alphabet in addtion to other greek characters (ɛ č ḍ ǧ ḥ ɣ ṭ ṣ ẓ and their majuscles Ɛ Č Ḍ Ǧ Ḥ Ɣ Ṣ Ṭ Ẓ)
and if you need more informations , please ask me .
and about purodha i wrote him in his talk page two months ago but i didn't get any answer from him.

To whom may I address myself to explain the situation? To you or to him? I'm not delighted to notice that while I am writing to you, Rdsmith is removing my rights without letting me explain to him the situation. [edit] molba

Hvala puno.

--Millosh 05:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A fair election

Dear Millosh, As I gave my opinion here Encyclopedias are founded to gather information for people, to help people think better and act better. So, by definition they should be void of personal prejudices or political obsessions. Under the rules of wikipedia in Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and because "Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought" and not a place for "the editor's opinion." you should urge users to give citations for what they claim and have direct link to what they maintain, according to Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Unfortunately, and to my consternation, as I observed, in Mardetanha's elections Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not was not respected. As a matter of fact, I was shocked to see the sentence "disputes on fawiki, fear that Iranian government will gain his access under torture." in User:Pathoschild/2009 steward election statistics. Is wikipedia a place to deduce and refer some claims that nobody is sure about them? Is wikipedia a place for unproved political claims and political propaganda? I am sure that it is not, as wikipedia rules note. So I want you to urge users to give direct, verifiable, and reliable sources for what they claim. In order to have unbiased, true, and good elections, Thanks in advance. Pastorals2007 16:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Mari Wikipedia in Incubator

Please, take a look at Talk:Language_committee#Requests for approval Meadow Mari Wikipedia. Nobody has answered yet on my last post week ago. --Сай 09:03, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi there! I am glad to inform you, Language committee, that now Mari Wikipedia Incubator commutity has three active not-grayed out editors for last three monthes (look at statistics). So, the last requirement is meet now.
Also I want to add, that there will be a big conference in July, 10. There would be around 150 young mari. I will take part in this conference and intend to talk about Mari Wikipedia to involve more people to contribute. There are more chances that new participants will contribute to Wikipedia than to Incubator. So, I am asking you to consider approval of Mari Wikipedia before the start of conference(before July, 10). As for me, I have some technical skills. I can help you, for example in creating subdomain mhr.wikipedia.org or in moving pages, etc. And of cource, if you think that mari wikipedia don't have something for final approval, please, write it here immediatly, so we can fix and solve all the problems before July 10.
Please, post your answer here --Сай 05:59, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

[5] There are several authors, who hold first places even now, despite they are in the Incubator. Also, I don't understand the reason, why none from the committee (but you & Evertype ) has yet replied us. As you see well, not only members of ka-wikipedia, or Georgians want this project to be created. Now about translate wiki net. We have asked several people to go & help us in translations. They all said, that it had been too difficult for them to understand structure of it. P.S. the main question now is why ( none but you & Evertype ) from the committee replied the task community of a Georgian wikipedia, wikiqoute & etc. Regards, --George Mel 13:50, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Opt-out global sysop

Hello there Millosh. I had a question for you regarding global sysops. According to Mardetanha, you were one of the people who pushed the idea during last summer. While Pathoschild reworked your idea into an opt-in version, the idea gained no real traction, perhaps because of the intense difficulty of getting 650 to 700-odd projects a global sysop policy, getting it approved by the tiny community, and then working through all the paperwork. I wrote up an opt-out version at User:NuclearWarfare/Global sysops/opt-out draft to see if it would be possible on getting the process started again; do you think you could take a look at it? Thanks, NuclearWarfare 01:44, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Mass upload

Hello Millosh I read that you are involved into mass upload. I have hundreds, no thousends of place names from Congo-Zaire and I would like create small articles for ln. The articles would be something like

"A is a village (or if appropiate: town) in the B Territory, District of C in the D Province (E Province until 2010) of Dem Rep Congo. (Subtitel Geographys) A is located at (Coordinates). (Subtitel Sources): * [xyz] [Category:Place in B Territory]"

I know, population, altitude, name of mayor, etc. is missing, but not available.

I started to put all the data I have from different sources into an excel file, where I can also create stubs as showed below. Could this be a base for a mass upload at ln: (even other wikipedias, my excel file is both, ln: and fr:)? --Eruedin 15:20, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

I can help you with mass content adding, of course. However, you need community approval from the project on which you want to upload those articles. As you probably don't know to use bots, I may do that for you. That means that my bot should probably get bot flag on the target project. (If you know to program in Python and use Pywikipediabot, I may give to you my code.) --Millosh 16:09, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Prekmurska wikipedija

Zdravo Millosh!

[edit] My respects

Millosh, your political and social beliefs notwithstanding, I have followed with great interest your efforts to improve the governance of the Wikimedia projects. I have abstained from commenting for several reasons: it is not my area of expertise; not enough disposable time to embrace such complex and unfamiliar matter; and a delicate situation on the Portuguese Wikipedia, as a direct result of challenging it's governance. My beliefs would bring into the fore some interpretations and misuses of statements like "Wikipedia is not a democracy," "Consensus," "Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy," and "Wikipedia is not an anarchy." Briefly, until some principles are well established in Wikimedia projects, their governance will continue to face great obstacles. Without trying to be exhaustive let me mention just a few: respect for Human Rights, separation of powers, transparency, accountability, civility and everything else that its at the base of the functioning of any civilized society. Since virtual communities are made up of persons, not machines, until such principles are fully adopted those communities will always be at an earlier stage of development, like the real ones have been but fortunately have evolved from.

Best of luck in your endeavors. Please don't hesitate to call on me if some important vote or decision is at stake, but bear in mind that I'll always speak my mind and vote according to what I think is best, and will make no attempt to please or appease any of the opposing choices.

Best regards,

Virgilio A. P. Machado

Hello Millosh!
There are a few unanswered questions on Talk:Language committee. As a member of the language committee, I am kindly asking you to reply to the users' concerns posted there. Please don't be offended if the tone of my last posting there sounds a bit harsh, as I was a little disappointed because some questions weren't responded to in a while. Thank you!

Lvova 19:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal for closure of Tahitian Wikipedia

Hello Millosh, Me and Tahitians need your help about this possible project: "Proposal for closure of Tahitian Wikipedia" (http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Proposals_for_closing_projects/Closure_of_Tahitian_Wikipedia). I saw you talked to Lousyi to help similar projects. He sees things with the Malay technology in front of his eyes but we in the fenua (land), we don't have (very slow) internet on the majority of the territory, nor TV or sometimes no electricity. We don't have good learning books for Tahitian, our teachers are 98% French and most come and go back to France without speaking our language etc. etc. and I could add many things. We are not Malays, with money and help to some Wikipedias. The Tahitian Wikipedia needs support, while other French Polynesian languages still wait for their project. Could you talk to Lousyi to help us? 193.253.141.80 22:46, 18 October 2010 (UTC) (Eva, the Tahitian)

Why English has three wikipedias? en, simple and ang? Anglo-Saxon has another problem: it's historical too. Why while there are Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian Wikipedias there should be another one like Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia? I don't have problem with this Wikis but with this discrimination and unfairness for people who speak different languages. This is a total discrimination and unfairness. Please answer. [edit] Clarification of you concept of "payment"

Dear Millos,

In your statements for Board elections, you have said "WMF should find a way that Wikimedians can be payed in areas close to their Wikimedia work". I'm trying to translate this to Persian, and I'm not sure what you mean by "be payed" (do you mean money), and what you mean by being payed "in areas close to their Wikimedia work". An example can be explanatory.

Thanks, Huji 15:15, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

I mean "money" and I mean the situation which is not COI, but which is related to Wikimedian work. For example, if someone is spending a lot of time with GLAM issues and according to WMF goals, then WMF and chapters should find a way how to pay that person. There are, also, many other areas which should be explored. In other words, my position is that Wikimedians should be able to make money for living from their Wikimedian work or work closely related to their Wikimedian work. --Millosh 15:49, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Deblokada

Poz --WizardOfOz talk 20:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Questions to Board candidates

Based on the statistics concerning the number of pages read in previous years' Q&As, I infer that few voters take them into account. Personally, I see it as a very interesting exercise despite the fact that we the candidates are also the main readers. I believe it is a unique type of debate among us that is especially interesting.

I have noticed that User Alecmconroy suggested a very interesting series of questions on strategic issues: User talk:Alecmconroy#More questions for Board Candidates (or others). I have given my opinion, I see you have made your comments too.

I wish you the best possible result in these elections and, if you agree, I suggest that we continue having this type of debate regardless of who is chosen.

Cheers and good luck.--Gomà 09:20, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Help compile Objective Data about the Candidates

Posted to all candidates talk page:

To aid in the fair evaluation of all the candidates, especially those not active on EnWiki, verifiable data about the candidates is being compiled. Anyone is invited to help compile the data since it is all publicly available on-wiki.

But since the people best qualified to help are the candidates themselves, it seems reasonable to ask:

  • Which languages do you speak? (voter statement)
  • Which projects do you contribute to?
    • For each, when was your first edit?
    • For each, how many total edits? (exact figures not need)
  • Which projects are you an admin on?
  • Are you a bureaucrat? which projects? when?
  • Are you a CheckUser? Which projects? When did you start??
  • Are you a steward? If so when were you made one?
  • Have you served in a verifiable leadership role on a project? (e.g. Like EnWiki's Founder or Arbcom member)
  • Have you served in a verifiable leadership role on at the Chapter or Foundation level? (Trustee, etc)

Are there any objectively verifiable facts that should be included in this guide but aren't?

(Incidentally, this document won't reflect my own personal values or wikipolitical opinions. Ideally it will come to exist outside of my userspace in some neutral, visible location. -- Alecmconroy)

[edit] global lock Abigor

Hello,

Thnks for closing the request for global locks as not done, but it seems that some of the accounts where already locked by your fellow steward. Would you mind removing all the locks from the accounts listed there?

Now we have a request as not done but the accounts did get locked, seems kind of strange.

Best,

Huib talk Abigor 19:29, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I would like to ask you to wait unlocking untill the checkusers have responded to the alledged Xxxxxx xxxxxx fucks Xxxxx Xxxxxx in his ass-account by Abigor. Information on nl:Overleg gebruiker:Abigor/blockmsg shows that the account and Abigor are linked and that the information came from a CU done on meta. I don't know why it takes so long to come up with a reaction on this point. I've asked two of them: 1, 2. I hope they'll respond soon. Silver Spoon 20:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
You mean this reaction maybe? [9] [10]. Its clear that the sock cant be linked to me, stop trying to bend it arround please. Huib talk Abigor 20:15, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm not talking about that Abigor, I'm talking about a reaction to this from the check users who were still discussing this yesterday. The link you're showing is from Herby who said something way before that. @Millosh, my question still stands, also the questions to the CU's still stand. Silver Spoon 20:19, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Its about the same account, you are just looking and looking until you find something... You wanted a respondse by a checkuser and you get one, you don't like it and you move on to the next one and the next one.... Huib talk Abigor 20:22, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm not looking untill I find something, I'm waiting for an answer like I said here. And there will be one, we only have to show some patience (see here). Silver Spoon 20:28, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I will repeat in different words what I said on SRG page: My involvement here is not related to the particular cases per se, but to the fact that stewards under pressure are making actions which are not inside of the scope of stewards' tasks. I am at vacations and I am not willing to do CU, as it takes significant time; so, ask other stewards to do that. --Millosh 20:58, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not asking for a CU, it has allready been done. It's just not communicated to the community yet (the bold link I gave 1 reaction above). Silver Spoon 21:05, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing to your discussion with Barras. I've read the data at the private wiki. Anyway, no matter if it is positive or negative, global locks are not the tool for resolving situations like this one is. I am not introduced into the matter like Barras is, for example, but in any case, this is the regular issue related to the particular wikis; it's not the case of vandalism or spam, which should be dealt with global tools. --Millosh 21:33, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Translator, We need you!

Dear Millosh,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.

Many Thanks

[edit] Your comments

"Proposer should educate him/herself in linguistic diversity. Useful resource in this case is English Wikipedia article Scots language"

Please look at it yourself. I quoted the piece. There is a major division within the field of linguistics as to if it can be considered an actual "language", with most scholars outside of Scotland providing a resounding "NO!" This book, a very popular dictionary of Scots, even refers to it as a dictionary for a "dialect" whereas most dictionaries of a language would clearly say language. This book goes into great detail about the dispute.

p. 139: "For many, in Scotland and elsewhere, Scots is obvious an English dialect. However distinctive it may be (or may have been) in sound, spelling, syntax, and vocabulary, it is not different enough structurally and lexically to be a language in its own right... and has none of the socio-legal trappings of a language: no official status, no significant presence in schools, only a minor role int he country's legal system, and no role whatever in its administration. Many Scots who hold the 'dialect' view would probably have no objection.... if Scots were a clear-cut language, but they tend to think that people should accept the facts of life."

The bolding is mine. I think you were mislead by a few noisy users who are heavily connected to the sco.wiki and who aren't interested in what is correct or proper. Ottava Rima (talk) 12:49, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

By the way, policy is clear that discussions must be open for longer than a week. This means your close is invalid. You should undo it yourself before someone else undoes it for you. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:29, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Millosh, your close is obviously correct. In a day, there were 14 opposes, 1 joke support, and only 1 real support besides the nominator for closing the project. That's a "snow close," obviously. Your close will stand. Ottava apparently doesn't understand how wikis work. He thinks it's about rules, hence his argument about "longer than a week." Sure. If there is any doubt about consensus. --Abd 17:33, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Good call, Millosh. Seb az86556 17:41, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Just to be clear: As Seb noted inside of his "vote", the request belongs to the category "Please, close French Wikipedia", which would be treated as trolling and user blocked if it is not about ignorance. According to the defined workflow between Language committee and Board, I have right to close such requests on sight. --Millosh 19:31, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Millosh, if you want to claim Scots is equivalent to French Wikipedia then that would be more trolling than the request to close the Scots Wikipedia. I have already provided sources showing that many linguistic scholars consider it a dialect, and we do not have dialects as different languages. You do not have the right to close such on sight. It makes it clear that -weeks- must progress. You only have a right to submit it to the committee but not close it. The committee would have to decide on such. I already quoted the policy and it is clear. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:33, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
And it is really ironic that you say the request is ignorance when you referred to the Scots language page saying that the whole thing is considered a dialect. Did you read it before linking to it?
"Since there are no universally accepted criteria for distinguishing languages from dialects, scholars and other interested parties often disagree about the linguistic, historical and social status of Scots.[5] Although a number of paradigms for distinguishing between languages and dialects do exist, these often render contradictory results. Focused broad Scots is at one end of a bipolar linguistic continuum, with Scottish Standard English at the other.[6] Consequently, Scots is often regarded as one of the ancient varieties of English, but with its own distinct dialects.[5] Alternatively, Scots is sometimes treated as a distinct Germanic language, in the way Norwegian is closely linked to, yet distinct from, Danish.[5] Those positions are also reflected in the 2010 Scottish Government study of "public attitudes towards the Scots language" in which 64% of respondents (around 1,000 individuals being a representative sample of Scotland's adult population) "don't really think of Scots as a language""
64% of Scots don't even consider Scots a language. Isn't that a tad odd? Ottava Rima (talk) 02:35, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

What do you think about working on Wikizine instead of wasting time on things which you are not able to change? --Millosh 02:40, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Not able to change? My dear, you don't have the authority to make an out of process close like that, especially when your justification and accusations are proven false by your own example. You wrote before looking and you made a serious mistake. You are confronted with the proof you are wrong, especially when 64% of the Scots refuse to accept Scots as a language, and you don't even bat an eye. That is a major problem. And don't try to pull things on me - if you bothered, you would have remembered that I spent a long time working on the opening and closing projects, including the archivings of the discussions. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:47, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
On a wiki, the proof of authority is action that stands. Period.
Millosh was acting with the same authority -- or more, because of his LangCom membership -- as any user. Ottava, you are nit-picking, as to whether his explanation was completely sound. You seem to believe that if you can find a flaw in his explanation, then ... then what? It doesn't matter! He did what he did, and it's been sustained, which we know because nobody has reversed it, and when you revert warred to try to restore your post-close comment, and complained about "vandalism," where did that go?
I've been closing certain RfCs and discussions here, and my authority was? Those closes stand, none have been reversed.
I highly recommend that you stop harassing Millosh over his close. If you really believe that his close was wrong, and that this is important enough to justify wasting his time reading this kukk (Scots) on his Talk page, and to stake your account on, then it would be simpler and more efficient to just revert his close, once he didn't accept your arguments. I don't recommend it! --Abd 01:05, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Wikinews in Portuguese

Hello Millosh. My name is Sérgio Vieira and live in Brazil, Portuguese-speaking country. I'm putting the applicant on Portuguese Wikinews, the news with CC (Creative Commons) to be published automatically. I have two websites in Portuguese: the Agência Brasil ("Brazil Agency", http://www.agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/) and Voice of America or "Voz da América" (in Portuguese Africa: http://www.voanews.com/portuguese/news/). A user of the Serbian Wikinews requested that program in your bot to publish news on the sites I mentioned. If you wish to contact, is here. Sérgio Vieira 22:30, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Millosh, I need your answer. I know you're going to do them and is taking time to answer, I posted the message a week ago. Sérgio Vieira 22:45, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Sichuanese Wikipedia

Hi Millosh,

Could you place this Request for Sichuanese Wikipedia on hold for the time being?

The participants are currently applying to SIL International for an ISO-693 code scm.

They have even created a test version of their language at Sichuan Wikia including a Romanized version.

I myself have heard the conversations of a native Sichuanese speaker and its variation from standard mandarin is very high - sometimes to the point of near unintelligiblity. --Jose77 03:52, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Venezuela

Hello,

I am writing to ask you a question regarding the status of our still pending request of Wikimedia Venezuela to become a local Wikimedia Chapter. We have started gathering people and ideas since October 2010, organised a series of lectures for Wikipedia TEN. Our proposed bylaws have been reviewed by members of the ChapCom as early as May 2011. We were informed that in June-July 2011, our proposal was scheduled to be submitted to voting and, as of October 2, 2011, we are yet to receive a notification, either approval, rejection, suggestions...we have received only silence. What is going on? What has delayed the ChapCom to close the voting on our case? Working groups in other countries have submitted their proposals/requests to form a local WikimediaChapter more or less at the same time that we did, and they have been approved already. Why not Wikimedia Venezuela? What is wrong with us? If we were told what is wrong with us, we could work it out and fix whatever is needed...but with no input, we are left sitting in the waiting room for months..

Could you please tell us what is delaying our approval? What do we have to do?

Our people (37) is anxious and wondering what is going on. We were more people, but we feel dissapointed and discouraged, and this doesn't help us at all. Could you please give us an update?

Many, many thanks in advance from Venezuela.

[edit] Template:Main Page/sr etc.

Dear Milosh! Thanks for create new intro for new Serbian MainPage. Maybe you do complete translation of Main Page/sr for replace text of Главна страна to transcluded {{Main Page/sr}}? This would be great! --Kaganer 11:27, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Maybe you can spend a little time to create Main Page/bs (instead of Početna strana), Main Page/hr (instead of Glavna_stranica) and Main Page/sh (if this is actually)? Simple going to Template:Other languages/Template:Main Page and clicking on the relevant red link and translating that. Or maybe you could invite other users who will do it? --Kaganer 11:27, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] User language indicators

Hello Millosh. I migrated your user page to the new #babel extension, but I couldn't match ry to a language — neither the {{user language}} system you were using, the extension, nor ISO 639 recognize it as a valid language code. Which language was this referring to? —Pathoschild 18:25:09, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

At some point of time I thought that it's an ISO 639-1 code for Rusyn language. And, thanks for migrating my Babel template! --Millosh 07:51, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome. The code for Rusyn is rue; I've added it to your language boxes. :) —Pathoschild 12:48:27, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Millbot

At some point of time I should turn it on again. If it's a problem to keep the bot flag, then remove it. If not, please leave it. --Millosh 07:51, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

It's up to you, Millosh. That's sure it does not really make sense to remove the bot flag if you plan to turn it on in a month. But if you don't know when you will have the time for doing this, and if it may take months, that should probably be better to remove the status and to ask 'crats to give it back when it will start to edit again. A simple message on my talk page is sufficient. Have a nice evening. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 16:08, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Requests for new languages/Wikisource Belarusian 2

18:51, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Dear Millosh, can you please clarify why the issue on getting the Belarusian subdomain with Wikisource has been considering for so long? Are there any conditions that our language section does not comply with? There are no disputes between official Belarusian language and Taraskevica authors regarding Wikisource undertaking. --Da voli 19:16, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Unofficial analysis should be taken into consideration. There are at least 50+ non-translated messages. Despite l10n issues, the project remains active and for a start 'be-tarask' as a fallback language will server well. So I think there is the point to move forward towards creation of Belarusian Wikisource. Wizardist 14:37, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Obisk v Sloveniji konec februarja 2012
