signature[edit]

Hello Mwpnl, I just wanted to inform You that the current signature You are using:

<font color="#2B88FE">m:Mark W</font> <small>(Mwpnl) ¦ <font color="#66AA33">talk</font></small>

is not working correctly, the :meta: before User does send users to [Meta:User:...] instead of the user namespace. You might want to correct that, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:31, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello birdy, thanks for the notification, I should've known that copy&pasting my signature from commons/otrs-wiki would get me intro trouble someday. Thanks for proposing Wutsje as a meta-sysop by the way :-) It's always good to see great additions. Best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 20:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

Hello, I'm contacting you since you're the only admin I could find. I have a question about plagiarism; I've noticed some images used on a Spanish article about a city that were (very blatantly) googled and uploaded as own work, this is an example of a copyrighted image taken from here which is a British website that clearly stipulates all its material is copyrighted (all rights reserved) on the bottom of the website. So my question is: is there any kind of template to report this type of plagiarism? a more effective way to report this type of situations than contacting an admin with individual cases? --Darolu 06:05, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Darolu, thanks for your message. The image has already been deleted by another admin who was up somewhat earlier than I was. To answer your question, for individual copyright violations, you can just add reason - as you indeed did. A administrator will soon enough notice and remove the image. If it's more than one image (perhaps a user who does nothing but adding copyvio images) you can notify the admins via ‎Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 14:44, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I can't help but wonder what rawrwr would mean then ;-). Anyway, Meta-wiki is no playground, please don't create pages that have nothing to do with the Wikimedia projects. Thank you so much for understanding. rawr! m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 21:04, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alemannic Press Page[edit]

Hello Mwpnl, I just noticed that you removed the als e-mail address from this als:Wikipedia:Presse page with the summary "the info-als isn't in use anymore". I'm not doubting that that is true and I have a good idea why, but I'm just curious how you found out. Thanks! Oh, and if you could reply on my Alemannic talk page (als:Benutzer_Diskussion:Chlämens) that would be great since I don't really check this site here. --Chlämens 00:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To keep the discussion at one place, I responded here and left a message on your talkpage there. ;-)
Well, as you might know all (_AT_)wikimedia.org and (_AT_)wikipedia.org addresses are operated by the OTRS-team. As one of the administrators on OTRS I keep record of all the queues and addresses, and - if needed - close inactive ones. This address hasn't been used for over a year now and the number of volunteers that actively manage the queue was very low, so I closed it (and rerouted it to info-de(_AT_)wikimedia.org).
There was no way you could've known that, unless you were an OTRS admin yourself :-P. I hope this answers your question? Best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 10:01, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks a lot! --Chlämens 23:02, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Hey, man I know you are doing your job, but why did you block me for so long? And the time is up, why am I still blocked? And what's so wrong with the photos? Why did you deleted them? Tell me so I can improve.

--Ole3 20:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Ole3, I removed all your images from Commons because they weren't "free". All images on Wikimedia Commons are supposed to be under a free licence (which means everybody can use and or reproduce the images, almost without limitations). The images you uploaded however were clearly not owned by you, but just pictures you found on the internet. Pictures found on the internet cannot be accepted on Commons, and were therefore removed. You have been told so a lot of times already on your talkpage at Commons:User_talk:Ole3, but didn't change your behaviour, hence the block.
Your block should've ended by now. Please don't upload any more unfree pictures. Thank you and best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 20:57, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the information!

Your user page[edit]

Hello Mwpnl. Just a little note about your user page. I think that when you write "And with that we can easily lose our temper and respond in a less civil matter as we should. With a little empathy we can get a long way.", you don't intend say less civil matter... but less civil way ... Is it right or I mistake? Bye. --158.102.162.6 07:15, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're absolutely right, thanks! I changed it. Best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 11:58, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think what he meant to write was "manner", but either word works. ;-) Cbrown1023 talk 13:33, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Manner, way, matter... the point's clear :-D. Thanks CC. m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 13:52, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mwpnl,

You archive the request of Alchimista, but not say if him have been accept or denied as a OTRS volunteer. Béria Lima Msg 01:28, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Béria, thank you for your message. As you may have noticed, we never give away information if we accepted or declined applications. We do this as to respect the privacy of the users: some don’t want to publicly announce that they are OTRS volunteers, others don’t want the world to find out we declined their applications.
Luckily you are an OTRS volunteer, so you can easily check the admin log on the private wiki to see the answer to your question. I hope you understand that I can’t answer your question here ;-).
With best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 16:00, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS in Georgian (info ka)[edit]

Hello, I'd like to start a queue in the Georgian (ka) language. Can you please tell, what must be done to do it?--Gaeser 17:46, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please send an e-mail to volunteers-otrs(_AT_)wikimedia.org with the details of this request. thanks! m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 20:08, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done, thank's.--Gaeser 05:50, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

remove Magalhães?[edit]

yo mark, in view of this removal i checked but found no place where he was added until now. can you tell me what happened with the request? very best, oscar 21:15, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Oscar, thanks for your message. As you may have noticed, we never give away if we accepted or declined applications. We do this as to respect the privacy of the users: some don’t want to publicly announce that they are OTRS volunteers, others don’t want the world to find out we declined their applications.
Luckily you are an OTRS volunteer, so if Magalhães got accepted, you'll see - within the next few days - a new entry in the admin log on the private wiki. If, within the next few days, you don't find such an entry, you can safely assume his request was declined. Of course, you're free to ask Magalhães in person if you're eager to find out (Although he's not obliged to answer).
I do hope you understand that we can’t answer your question here.
With best regards, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 21:36, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
dear mark, i am sorry to say that i fail to understand an imperative need for secrecy resulting in not making public the members of the otrs-team; i find the therefore undefined "we" in ill correspondence with the basic transparency that is practiced throughout our projects. it is of course completely clear to me why the exact content of the work is confidential, but why should this team be a secret society? very best, oscar 00:27, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Some users chose not to disclose their participation with OTRS, for various reasons. We've never required them to do so and we won't be requiring them to do so. So I'm sorry to say that your question will remain unanswered by the OTRS administrators and other OTRS volunteers. You may wish to contact the user directly with your inquiry (or as Mark suggested above, waiting a few days to see what happens).. - Rjd0060 20:11, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
hi ryan, "for various reasons" seems refer to a collection of personal motives and does not provide an answer to my fundamental question, which btw is not about this particular case anymore. very best, oscar 22:41, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Running your bot at ksh-wikipedia[edit]

Hallo Mwpnl,

before running your bot at ksh-wikipedia you have to apply for a botflag. Please add your request1.

Regards --BBKurt (talk) 18:07, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BBKurt, I'm not aware that I have or have used a bot on any other wiki than nl-wikip. In fact, my bot doesn't have an account on ksh-wiki. Maybe you are confused with the bot of Hoo, who is creating a talk page for me on every wiki I have an account? m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 20:21, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. It was my mistake. Sorry for bothering you. --BBKurt (talk) 23:16, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No harm done ;-) m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 20:33, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Privacy[edit]

Trijnsteltalk 18:57, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Global CSS/JS migration[edit]

Hello Mwpnl. You have global scripts in User:Mwpnl/global.js, which you import using your local JS pages. Since August 2014, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis. Since you already import them yourself, you may experience script errors or tools being added twice. Do you want me to fix this by removing the imports from your local pages using Synchbot (without changing any other content)? —Pathoschild 20:39, 05 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi again! I haven't heard back from you, so I'll assume you don't want to do this. Feel free to leave me a message or add a Synchbot request if you change your mind. :) —Pathoschild 17:38, 09 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
