User talk:Skalman/logo

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
This page is for discussing the new Wiktionary logo. Currently it seems like I (Shell) am the one fixing the logo. So I've put up a page on Toolserver. I prefer people talking directly to me (e.g. email, MSN, IRC), but if we need a general discussion this is a good place.

Some of the localizations will also need some changes to the picture itself. The logos for Hebrew, Arabic and Yiddish need the image flipped, and the non-symmetrical letters flipped back, and the Chinese-like languages need a different format for the left page. --Yair rand 18:50, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now it's becoming apparent I'm no graphics artist. Whatever - I'll try. What should the Chinese-like version look like? Any example image I could incorporate? //Shell 09:56, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Chinese-ish version would need to be not recognizable as actual Chinese to be used for similar languages, but would need to take the same general shape. Maybe it could be pulled off zh.wp/zh.wikt, or it could be not actual letters at all. (After looking at the logo as it looks on the site though, I'm not sure the original is distinguishable from Chinese, especially after it's blurred.) Another problem is Japanese, which I think has dictionaries written vertically, but I'm not sure. --Yair rand 05:15, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Localization text status: We now have 73 translations (12 of which need checking) out of the 151 non-incubator Wiktionaries (48%). --Yair rand 20:55, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any progress on this? I don't see any new versions on the toolserver page... --Yair rand 06:55, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
