User talk:Snowolf/How to globally Twinkle

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Capital "Twinkle"?[edit]

I always wondered why people capitalised this word on Meta, but nowhere else. πr2 (t • c) 15:49, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It should be "Twinkle", not "TWINKLE", right? PiRSquared17 (talk) 13:53, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No idea really. Feel free to move it :) Snowolf How can I help? 19:52, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Simpler process for just one other project?[edit]

If someone only wanted this for one other wiki, would it work to simply copy and paste "mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Irn/global.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');" into their User:Username/common.js? Irn (talk) 19:17, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Snowolf How can I help? 19:23, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that will work. If you only want to use it on one wiki, you might as well just copy the stuff in your global.js to common.js on that wiki, though. I'm not even sure the Azatoth bit at the top is needed. @Irn: If that wiki is enwiki or eswiki, you'll be better off with their local versions of Twinkle. Both are under "Gadgets" in preferences.PiRSquared17 (talk) 19:28, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just checked, it is required, but I hope to fix that by January. PiRSquared17 (talk) 19:29, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. The local version on eswiki actually doesn't work anymore, which is what drove me looking for this. Irn (talk) 19:50, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To use localized version on enwiki, should I add (mw.config.get("wgDBname") !== "enwiki"), so that it won't interfere (duplicate Twinkle).

Doesn't work.[edit]

this doesn't work for me, any idea why? ◂ ‎épine talk 09:34, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does this even work anymore?[edit]

Sorry for dropping the ball on this. PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:11, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not for me, I just tried. :(   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 00:38, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PiRSquared17 and Jeff G., didn't work for me either, and I think I might know why. The morebits.js page was woefully out of date, so it got blanked in approx. 2018 on enwp, and there have been numerous other changes to Twinkle's backend code as well recently. I'm gonna try to take a crack at retooling the current codebase for Twinkle so it better suits SWMT's needs. Of course, I'd love it if we finally got global gadgets, but wishful thinking at this point. *sigh* OhKayeSierra (talk) 06:58, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Jeff G. (and anyone else who might be looking to use Twinkle), it turns out that Xiplus beat me to it and has a functioning Twinkle script that'll work globally. The instructions on installing are at User:Xiplus/TwinkleGlobal. Cheers! OhKayeSierra (talk) 08:56, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
