Invitation

As an Administrator, you are allowed into #wikimedia-admin, the cross-wiki coordination channel for Wikimedia administrators. Any member of the channel can invite you in temporarily, but you need an invite exemption from a channel operator to get in whenever you want. Please come to #wikimedia and ask for an invite.

Any admin from any project is welcome and it is a good place for cross-wiki coordination of vandal and spam fighting. It is also useful for new admins to contact more experienced admins in real-time to get help with the more complicated admin tasks such as history merges/splits and importing via Special:Import.

My name is Claudi Balaguer (User Capsot from the Catalan Wikipedia and the Occitan Wikiccionari) and I wanted to thank you for your support to our cause. I tried to reach your page on the Vietnamese Wikipedia but I can't edit there (your userpage is really nice, the flower so beautiful!), so I tried this place. I've just created my userpage on your Wikipedia and maybe I'll begin my campaign there soon if I can manage to find someone with time and will to translate the text on the template. I wish you, your language, your wonderful country (I hope I can visit it some day, it seems really beautiful and I bought some Vietnamese futniture which is really amazingly beautiful... you've got a great culture!) and your Wikipedia all the best. After seeing it on TV I can only grasp a very small glimpse of how the devastation and tragedy must be. Change in translations

Hi, and thank you for your activity with fundraiser translations so far!! I have one small request to make: We had to change three of the appeals; the change is the same in all of them, and the replacement text is quite short, so I don't want to e-mail people just to fix that, and that's why I'm asking you instead. It would be great if you could do the following fixes in Vietnamese:

• Jimmy Letter 002
• Kaldari Letter (remember the change from 420 million to 422 million)
• Alan Letter

Since these are small changes you don't have to go through the cycle of having it proofread and everything, unless you are unsure about the translation. Thanks in advance. :-) Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 05:39, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted

Hello! I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.
