Bot policy on ruwiki

Hello VasilievVV. I removed the Russian Wikipedia from the standard bot policy (global bots) wikiset in the last update because it's listed in neither the policy list nor the policy option list. I see it was discussed locally and there was consensus for global bots, but I don't know what else was agreed upon. Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Hi VasilievVV, Just wondered if you knew that both Abkhazia and South Ossetia have been reintegrated into Georgia on the Wikipedia page w:List of countries and outlying territories by total area. No discussion appears to have taken place. I think the reason is that some editors do not want the countries of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England to be on the list, so they remove Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Kosovo etc from separate entries in order to destroy the argument that if Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Kosovo are on there they should be on there too. I think it an outrage that they should be removed following acceptance since September. Regards,

SUL Util

I understand that you are "the man" behind http://toolserver.org/~vvv/sulutil.php. Lately, it looks like SUL Util gives wrong results, for example the page [1] says "SUL account doesn't exist", but if Netspider visits the de:Special:MergeAccount page, he gets the message "Login unification complete" (see ro:Wikipedia:Schimbarea numelui de utilizator:Netspider). Interlinker disable option

Using an older version of IE recently, I noticed that the global logs fail to show the user@project format when browsing the logs, as another user mentioned at the above discussion. Is there any way to build a gadget (or perhaps autodetect the browser version) to disable interlinker when it's not going to work on that browser?

У меня возникла некоторая проблема со входами в Википедию. Недавно стало возможным создать единую учётную запись для входа на страницы Википедии на разных языках. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Unified_login/ru У меня только проблема в русской Википедии я пишу для входа своё имя русскими буквами. В иностранных версиях – английскими буквами. Теперь программа сделала общий вход. и теперь на иностраные страницы вход есть автоматически, а функция «my contributions» не отображается, пока я не перепишу там же свою же запись для входа английскими буквами. Как теперь отказаться от единой учётной записи, так как ничего лучшего для удобства в работе она не несёт. Нигде никакого ответа для разрешения данной ситуации я не нашёл. Registration date for older accounts with no entry in the new user log

The user creation log was introduced on 2005-09-08, hence the creation of older accounts is not logged, but sulutil can nevertheless retrieve the registration date on en.wiki, e.g. sulutil:Anthere (lots of "unknown" for other wikis). db tables involved in your script sulutil

Red and green in sulutil

Hi

I suggest to change sulutil in a way that 'blocked' and 'hidden' are shown with red colour and not blocked/not hidden with green colour. That would make more sense in my opinion by making sulutil more intuitive. regards. --Itu 10:32, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit counter

For some reason, I'm getting a weird result with your "Yet Another Edit Counter", particularly on Commons. Your counter gives me 1551 edits, but the individual numbers add up to 1669 which agrees with both X!'s counter and my contributions page. I can't figure out the reason why. Any thoughts?

Dzongkha Wikipedia

Здравствуйте, Виктор! Для развития википедии на языке дзонг-кэ очень важно сделать шрифт большим. Например, таким, как в тибетской википедии.

Если этого не сделать, то, боюсь, википедия на этом языке ещё очень долго не будет развиваться. Я что-то поделал в течение последнего года. Но один в поле дзонг-кэ не воин, если дзонг-кэ не знаешь :-) А участники, говорящие на дзонг-кэ, придут, если тексты будут написаны таким шрифтом, чтобы удобно читать их было. Это не моё мнение (я не могу проверить, т.к. не читаю на дзонг-кэ), а обобщение просьб в википедии дзонг-кэ. Такие просьбы появляются регулярно. Вот последняя: dz:Talk:སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་བསྟན་པ. Решение этого вопроса в тибетской википедии, как я понимаю, способствовало развитию википедии на тибетском языке.

Is it allowed in Wikipedia?

To keep in the pages of wiki Administrator's personnel thesis? at http://sd.wikipedia.org ? Other problem is We call Computer as same in English, but admin forcibly used his word Ganpukar of Computer. I have proof that thousands of published books called it Computer not Ganpukar. If some one oppose him he started abusive language. That is the reason sd.wikipedia.org never got attraction to Sindhi community. Plz check record there. Other things are he locked CSS due to that on the same site there are lot of font styles appeared there. He is not able to set commonCSS or Monocss. We are in trouble to work in our local Sindhi language. I don't know where to say for this problem. Record history says all the situation there. I appeal plz warn him to follow en.wikipedia.org rules, other wise he will continue use his personnel details and personnel promoted articles there. Dear I am sorry If u r not right person to say all about this, Plz suggest me where I can raise this issue. My sd.wikipedia.org ID is same. DotNetWikiBot and MediaWiki 1.20

Titleblacklist: blocking new users by e-mail address

Hello,

We've got a wiki who receives lots of spam lately. Even enforcing account validation by e-mail address ($wgEmailConfirmToEdit = true) doesn't help, as then the spammers just register with a throwaway hotmail, gmail or yahoo address...

So, I'm wondering whether Titleblacklist can be set up to block new users by their email address as well as their user name.

Replacing

$title = Title::newFromText( $user->getName() );

$title = Title::newFromText( $user->getEmail() );

in TitleBlacklist.hooks.php seems to do the trick, but then we lose matching by name.
