Sakha Wiki[edit]

Would you please explain your concerns on the quality of Sakha Wikipedia? If, as Pathoschild hints here, the problem is that you think this Wikipedia is not in Sakha language, then you as a ru-3 user can easily verify this yourself.

--Yaroslav Blanter 07:12, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
--HalanTul 22:16, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
--HalanTul 00:58, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yaroslav Blanter 18:38, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--HalanTul 21:48, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikisource Aragonese

Localization of MediaWiki in aragonese is already completed (including all extensions used in wikimedia wikis). Also, the Aragonese Wikisource project is not at the incubator, but in the old wikisource. Please update the status page Language_subcommittee/Status/ws-an --Juanpabl 17:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

HalanTul 00:55, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--HalanTul 01:15, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you forgot the text at the top of the page. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 21:56, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--HalanTul 02:56, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Yaroslav Blanter 07:22, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rave)[edit]

Yaroslav Blanter!

Rave.

Rave!

Belfolk

Dear Yaroslav,

No, I haven't implied anything.

It was absolutely not necessary to make any guess on my "implications". It would be enough to write any clarification you wish without unethical comments against me.

For the last year or even more I can't recall any single case of your proper interpretation of my words, actions, intentions, thoughts, whatever.

Yaroslav, I would like to repeat my polite request once again - could you please do not comment my words, actions and intentions at all, unless we work cooperatively on some specific common task. And especially I would like to ask you to avoid commenting my actions to third parties in private, not allowing me to defend myself.

Or even better, let's find a mediator between us.

Thank you in advance. Dr Bug (Vladimir V. Medeyko) 05:12, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Little question[edit]

Hi Yaroslav,

I'm not here to ask you to change or vote, in fact I'm here because I would like to ask you when i was so unpleasant to you in Foundation-I? I just want to know what i did wrong, because I can't remember.

Best regards, Béria Lima msg 12:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I mean the only thread which I started that month. From my prospective, I raised a valid point (though admittedly did not state it in the best way), to which you replied basically that I should mind my own business, additionally implying smth (that I have never visited any Portuguese-speaking country) which was irrelevant for the argument and also factually wrong. Whereas I understand that this reaction may very well be a part of the "hot temper" argument made on your steward nomination page, I believe it would be unacceptable for a steward to react in this way. --Yaroslav Blanter 19:39, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Let me try to understand: You basicaly told that my wiki have a bad reputation because of "bot-articles". And I told you that you need to understand our culture to say something about that. Tell me who was rude there? Me, for defending my wiki, or you for offend it? Béria Lima msg 20:37, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, you are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to my opinion and I voted against you, based on my opinion. I do not want to go through the same argument again. You wanted to know what the reason is - I gave you the reason. Now I am even more convinced you will not make a good steward, at least at this point.--Yaroslav Blanter 21:17, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for answer anyway. I will still defend my wiki against biased opinion. That makes me a good or bad steward? Well, I can't perform stewards action in my wiki, so your opinion is only that: your opinion. Béria Lima msg 21:39, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not afraid of any of your actions in pt.wp, but rather that you could scare somebody away who files a request to stewards and in reply gets bad faith assumption or overheated expressions.--Yaroslav Blanter 06:44, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After reading your criticism about us, Portubots, it was somewhat funny to see what's going on at wiki-ru. And people from wiki-ru already started to harass us, as if we had not enough problems of our own. Congratulations, let's hope you'll not end up in the swamp we are now.--Darwinius 08:12, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The link you gave is pure vandalism, I would suggest to block the IP. If you have some registered users leaving nasty responses on pt.wp, please let me know, I will take care of them. The set of bot-generated articles on Russian rivers is smth which contains lot more information than one-line pt.wp articles on insects and spiders, and even then we set up a project two months ago, ru:Википедия:Проект:Реки России where we coordinate how these articles can be manually improved (currently all bot-generated articles carry a template which can be removed manually once the article has been checked). I personally already checked dozens of articles, see ru:Участник:Yaroslav Blanter/Реки России. There is general understanding on ru.wp that quality should not be compromised on. Thanks for the congratulations anyway. --Yaroslav Blanter 13:12, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, no registered users that I know. I guess someone was overexcited with the news. It indeed took a while for me to understand why he had "owned" us, since I was not aware of that race you're doing there. At first I though it was some kind of weird cross-wiki vandalism, and it was precisely when I was looking for the place where to fill the complaint that I remembered your posts, and it finally dawned on me that it was some kind of bet between wikis.
Actually, contrarily to the impression Beria may have passed to you, many of us have an immense contempt for careless designed bot articles, and in the last attempts to do something of that kind we made sure that at least one good source was used. We have not that "mentality" suggested by Beria, nor we ever had. Some years ago, some of us wanted the project to grow at all costs, and those waves of thousands of petty bot articles were poured there, causing a catastrophic damage to our quality standards and making those articles a recurrent joke till today, not in the least in the Spanish Wikipedia where we were nicknamed the "Portubots". I'm glad that you learned from our bad experience, and your bot articles seem to be of good quality indeed, at least the ones I saw.--Darwinius 17:15, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message, it is much closed to what I thought indeed. Well, we have several guys who are mad about the numbers, and one of them probably got overexcited and decided to share his/her affection with Portuguese colleagues, but I hope this was just a single outburst. Most of Russian users involved in these bot generations are concerned about quality of articles, not about quantity. --Yaroslav Blanter 08:47, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Btw last month we made an advantage of the feelings that ru.wp would at some point surpass pt.wp in terms of the number of articles and organized a "Portuguese week" ru:Википедия:Проект:Португалия/Португальская неделя, when we created around 150 articles on Portugal-related topics (I personally wrote about 10 articles). Those are not bot-generated, but real articles, mostly of high quality.--Yaroslav Blanter 08:50, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
