Subject: Promoting the work of Research Scholars through WikiMedia: A Boon to R&D Initiative in India By Pankaj K Das/dspankaj@rediffmail.com
India today is a global R&D hub. Research is the backbone of all R&D initiatives, which in principle is being taught in India at Masters, M.Phil and Doctorate level. The focus of research is not in learning existing knowledge but creating new knowledge.
In India, many aspire to learn and do research as it allows them the possibility to innovate and create new knowledge and technologies. Over the years, it has been a general observation of the Research scholars and Research Practitioners in India that very few of their work are getting recognized nationally or globally. Majority of the Researchers are unable to showcase their idea due to the lack of proper platform.
There is a vast gap in the proportion of Quality Research Journals and the Researcher India , which in turn results in stagnation of sharing “new knowledge”.
Through Wikimedia, if a separate customized platform named “ideamedia” is provided to Research Scholars of various disciplines, it can be a boom to R&D Initiative in India. The Researchers can share their innovation, ideas, theories freely, which may be helpful in establish them globally. Greater use of ideamedia will also result in establishing India as a global head in R&D sector as well as in creation of another famous website from the house of Wikimedia. -->
