- Abstract (maximum 500 words)
Wikimedia has become a powerful tool for teaching and learning all kinds of subjects world over. In keeping with the times, professional social work education and training also have to adopt newer technologies in imparting the required knowledge and skills to students. However, the knowledge and awareness concerning Wikimedia (or even for that matter all Wiki-resources) seem to be rather inadequate among social work educators and students. This presentation will address the relevance and extent of utility and applicability of Wikimedia as a powerful and effective tool for imparting social work training. The author would like to suggest practical ways in which teachers and students of social work can use the various facilities of Wikimedia to promote better knowledge sharing, creation of new knowledge and even getting constant upgradation of skills through interactive teaching and learning.
