I have started programming a Java tool that converts the wiki SQL dump to HTML. It already works quite well. Details are here: de:Bild:OfflineWiki.zip.

I didn't know that Alfio Puglisi was already working on a similar project written in Perl [1].

Recently Magnus Manske also started one in C++ [2].

There might be a problem with the GFDL because the cur SQL dumps don't include information about the version history. I was planning to add information about the latest edit to the bottom of each page, including a link to the version history at Wikipedia. I don't know if this is enough to redistribute Wikipedia online or even offline. Maybe someone can comment on this. --Head 17:26, 11 Oct 2003 (UTC)
