Urartian pottery in Erebuni museum

The GLAM-WIKI project supports GLAMs and other institutions who want to work with Wikimedia to produce open-access, freely-reusable content for the public.

On 8th of June within GLAM project Wikimedia Armenia active volunteers organized a workshop in Erebuni Museum of History of Foundation of Yerevan. The goal was to introduce GLAM project to the museum staff and to teach them Wikiediting tools.

The Museum was founded in 1968 and houses 12,235 exhibits which were constructed by different architects. It has two branches in Shengavit and Karmir Blur with 5,288 and 1,620 exhibits respectively in stock.

It was created to scientifically validate finds discovered in the three famous archaeological sites of the mentioned situated in the administrative boundaries of Yerevan. The museum’s main interest is in documenting the history of the establishment of Yerevan.

Vanadzor Wiki workshop[edit]

Vanadzor workshop

On 30th June Wiki Workshop was organized in the third largest city of Armenia - Yerevan. The goal of the workshop was to represent Wikipedia and its sister projects to the young people of Vanadzor. They learned how to edit Wikipedia, got acquainted with editing tools, made their first steps in Wikipedia. The space for the workshop was provided by NGO Center organization located in Vanadzor.

Another meeting was organized with active wikieditors of Vanadzor and during which they discussed different points on wikiprojects and planned their further activity in projects.
