Main priorities

Main priorities of Wikimedia Czech Republic in 2013 are these:

Like in 2012 to continue again in promotion of the Wikimedia Foundation projects and to enrich their content. This might be achived mostly by Mediagrant. The Mediagrant already showed some great results throught its numerous projects, on which many of the WMCZ community members actively participate. We enriched Commons with thousands of new and unique media. We organized numerous activities and got new volunteers and contributors. We intend to continue in this effort. The activities in the Presentation and Outreach areas are backboned by the Presentation & Outreach grant. Wikimedia Czech Republic has rich experience with presenting the Wikimedia Foundation projects on various fairs (book fairs, Bambiriáda, presentations...). We intend to continue in our presentation activities – during 2012 we sucessfully cooperated with universities and museums (Ambassadorship and GLAM, both backboned by the P&O Grant). We intend to continue in this effort.

Our budget expects similar situation like in the previous year. As it was already stated, the key topics are both Mediagrant and Presentation & Outreach. The milestone for our chapter will be the most certainly the opening of our office, which is planned. This could make our agenda to be managed in a better way. The office would be a good home for the chapter, a place, where various meeting can také place, as well as some of the Mediagrant and P&O related activities.

The budget is designed in a way to adress both a high level of detail as well as high level of flexibility. It includes the P&O and Mediagrant related activities. Both grants are stated separately, because we see them as two specific entities.

Wikimedia Czech Republic is currently facing following challenges:

How to participate in the changing wiki movement. To find a relations to the Chapters Commitee to see a new vision of our grants and future funding. To include new low barrier activities that can help to attract more volunteers to our chapter

The previous effort to open our chapter to the outside world was not realized entirely, thanks to many projects of our grants, that could communitate the essence of our chapter to the general public well. The contribution of GLAM and SPW is enormous. The level of communication beween WM CZ, WMF or Czech Wiki projects community however did not grow sufficiently.

Wikimedium magazine

Mediagrant

Wikiexpedition to the Opava Region

• Budget: 35 000 CZK

• To systematically document and provide free media during a Wikimedia Poland-like event. We expect to achieve at least 4 000 CZK.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2013

• Aims: To repeat the sucess of WLM 2012 and to icrease the number of photos achived (at least 20 500 photos).

WM CZ Office

• Aims: To get an office space (the negotiations are already underway), to furnish the space and to use it for our activities (ie. Meetings, workshops, etc).

Travel grants

• Aims: To solve the problematic situation with reimbursements in WMCZ. To participate in more events, that will enrich our members and sympathisers with new ideas, applicable in WMCZ. To participate in at least 3 meetings and to present our ideas there (in a form of a presentation). To organize at least 3 wikimeetings in the Czech Republic (outside of Prague). To reimburse travel costs to nation-wide, regional (CEE Meeting, GLAM Camps) and international (e. g. Wikimania) events.

Administrative officer

• Organizers: WM CZ Board

• Aims: To have a temporary workforce or a student (on a practical training in our chapter). This person will maintain communication with at least 5 institutions
• This person will participate on a preparation of at least 1 presentation/fair event
• This person will participate on creation of at least 2 (press) releases.

Accountant
