What is the project about?[edit]

Wikimedia Deutschland’s current support programs for community initiatives are useful but as they largely developed in an organic growth process, lack clarity and consistency in part. We want to improve the structure and processes of these programs. We will also consider the possibility of running similar programs with the sister projects of Wikipedia and with external initiatives that aim to promote free knowledge.

How will this project help us meet our annual goals?[edit]

These support programs (ranging from literature scholarships to support for editor meetings) are essentially good and important but could be structured in a clearer way, run more swiftly and be more internally consistent.

The programs will be reviewed and continued with these aims in mind. We also want to ensure that these considerations include not only the German-speaking Wikipedia but also its sister projects.

We also want to offer a separate financial support program for projects outside of Wikimedia that promote free knowledge.

What are the key milestones along the way and by when should we reach them?[edit]

1.	Through April 8, 2013	The concept for improving current programs will be ready; start of implementation for aspects that can be launched immediately.
2.	May 4-5 and May 25-26, 2013	For any larger, strategic decisions: We will build on the online discussions by presenting and discussing issues at the open space sessions of the Zedler Prize Award Ceremony and at the General Assembly of Wikimedia Deutschland.
3.	May 29, 2013	Launch of all new support programs for Wikipedia, its sister projects and external projects.
