Welcome to my talk page!

Read through the following text BEFORE you write your comments:

  • Have I commented on your talk page, I will monitor it for your reply. This so we keep the discussion together in one place. Don't reply here. If I have commented on your talk page and you reply here, I will in most cases move your reply to your talk page anyway.
  • Always sign your comments with four tilde (~~~~).
  • Put new comments under a ==Describing headline== at the bottom of the page.
  • If I have deleted a page that you have written, I'm sure there is more information on your talk page about the reason. Read it through before asking for the reason here.
  • If you would like to complain about a block that affect your account or want to ask for a block, use Steward requests/Global instead of my talk page. It's often quicker and it can be handled by all Stewards.
  • If you would like to request a global block, place the request at Steward requests/Global.
  • If you leave a message here, I will reply here. In normal case I will not reply by e-mail.
  • Vandalism and nonsense will be deleted.

Have you read all the text above?? OK, then you can continue.

Kolega2357-Bot on SH Wikipedia.

Can you give me a bot flag? --Kolega2357 (talk) 12:43, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. Sh.wikipedia has local bureaucrats, and they assign bot-flags. Contact them. I guess that sh.wikipedia has a local page where you can request a bot-flag. -- Tegel (Talk) 12:51, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kolega2357 on SR Wikipedia

Please, if you can do as a steward to check my last IP address, that is if you can check the user accounts 1. Zloupotreba više korisničkih naloga 2. Upotreba više korisničkih naloga je zabranjena

Do it please continue to harass each other. Greeting! --Kolega2357 (talk) 17:42, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sr.wikipedia has both active administrators and check user, so there is nothing I can do as long as it's a local issue. -- Tegel (Talk) 17:48, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

-- Tegel (Talk) 13:26, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request

You've blocked my IP and I don't know the reason why. I am using this PC inside a building with shared server (a student dorm) and I am not able to edit anything. So please unblock my IP.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.103.160.20 (talk)

I blocked the IP-address because of cross-wiki vandalism. What wiki do you want to edit? -- Tegel (Talk) 16:25, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did edits on English and Italian Wikis only. Please unblock this IP.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.103.160.20 (talk)
There is a local block on the English Wikipedia, so you can't edit there anyway if I remove the global block. The IP-address is locally blocked on four wikis and should be blocked on another four wikis. Have you done any edit on the Italian wiki today? -- Tegel (Talk) 16:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, there were no edits of Italian Wiki from my PC today, nor in last few days.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.103.160.20 (talk)
OK. I have to go on what is coming from the IP-address that you are using and based on that the global block will remain the full 31 hours. My recommendation to you is that, after the block has expired, create an account. Then you're not so affected if the IP-address is blocked. But not immune. -- Tegel (Talk) 16:56, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have a new message

You have a new message. --Kolega2357 (talk) 16:27, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And you have placed a request at Steward requests/Bot status. You have to wait until someone that normally handles bot-requests answer on your request. -- Tegel (Talk) 16:36, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Ok, I will wait. Would you mind telling me how to become immune? 213.103.160.20 17:25, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Start with creating an account and do a lot of good edits. Then, if you're affected by a globally blocked IP-address, you can come back and I will direct you to the proper place where you can request it. If the IP-address is blocked locally on one wiki it's handled locally. -- Tegel (Talk) 17:28, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have been doing checks to protect the Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia against vandalism. -- Tegel (Talk) 12:55, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why himself giving right Check users on the META? Would not that be should you give yourself to check Wikipedia on where vandalism? It is very interesting for me. --Kolega2357 (talk) 13:06, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I give myself Check User right on the wiki where the vandalism is, but the user right change is logged at meta. It's like that for all user rights where a Steward do the change and not a local bureaucrat. I know it's interesting for you. -- Tegel (Talk) 13:10, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand but it does not show in the history of the user's right to check up on Wikipedia, where vandalism. --Kolega2357 (talk) 13:19, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, Only on Meta. -- Tegel (Talk) 13:20, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism in zh-yue

Thank you for your effort. Because this vandalism was not the first time. That ip user usually starts after midnight or morning. Your effort is very much appreciated. As I checked, the person uses some proxy in other country. --WikiCantona (talk) 19:58, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. We're here to help each other. I have blocked some of the proxys globally. Your wiki doesn't have that many active administrators. Why is it not covered by Global sysops? The global sysops are around 25 experienced users that has admin rights on the 500 smallest wikis for fighting vandalism, and five of them where involved in this case. Maybe something for you to discuss with your local community. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:08, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is a good idea. I will keep that in mind. Since the active vandalism has been sparse, usually we can deal with it. --WikiCantona (talk) 20:14, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Just wanted to let you know the different options. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:22, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Viwiktionary

I would like to opt Viwiktionary out of global sysop help. We have 6 sysops and 1 bureaucrat. Even though only few sysops to 1 sysop is active and we don't really have like a community to reach consensus on this. There is maybe 1 other user beside the sysops. There aren't much to do anyway so I don't see any reasons that we need any help from global sysops. We don't need the help. We would rather to do by ourselves, that's the Vietnamese tradition.Trongphu (talk) 23:44, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The vi.wiktionary has too few administrators that are active for a default opt-out. So the only way for a opt-out is that you reach a local consensus for this decision. Provide a link to this decision when the local discussion is over. -- Tegel (Talk) 02:35, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, nobody in Vietnamese community agrees with Trongphu (you can see the bottom of this discussion, here and here). Tranminh360 (talk) 13:24, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete?

http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Xkcdreader/Interpretation_of_the_movie_title_Star_Trek_Into_Darkness Is there any way to recover this? The admins on en explicitly asked me to move it here and deleted it off their end. Am I allowed sandbox pages here? Xkcdreader (talk) 23:41, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

I have answered you on your talk page User talk:Xkcdreader so we keep the discussion in one place. -- Tegel (Talk) 00:23, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Teredo tunneling edit

I was going to add to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teredo_tunneling under Security Considerations that "Teredo tunneling reveals your true IP address and thus makes anonymizers useless. Teredo tunneling must be disabled when using anonymizers."

Unfortunately you have blocked my anonymizer, and i cannot find a proxy that isn't blocked, so I can't edit. I don't want to reveal to Swedish law enforcement and SÄPO that I want privacy, by making said edit without anonymizer. That is a surefire way of being suspected of terrorism and such, in today's and tomorrow's crazy surveillance society.

Therefore i kindly ask you to add the text within quotes above, or something with about the same meaning, to the page.

46.21.99.26 22:40, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you really think that SÄPO cares about people editing Wikipedia? One other option is that you create an account and edit. Then you're protected by the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy and only a few user can see your real IP-address, and only if you do something bad. If you only do good edits no one will ever find out your IP-address. Or you can just let the people that uses Mullvad's services to read the information on their website instead.
Do you have an independent reliable source to the information that you want to add?
Sen ska man inte ändra på andras diskussionsinlägg, som du gjorde ovan. -- Tegel (Talk) 23:08, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Do you really think that they don't? I am absolutely certain that if they don't already, they will with very high certainty do so within twenty years. Just look at the US. This won't lead anywhere, you will call me a tin foil hat and I will call you naïve, and none of us will accept the slightest bit of what the other has to say. Also, it's missing the point, really.
The information is already on Mullvad's page, but Wikipedia is THE web encyclopedia. Most people look there first.
I am not protected against the Data Retention Directive by creating an account. As I understand it, one can not even edit via an "open proxy" after logging in. Besides, it gives more text tied to one anonymous individual for data mining software to analyze in order to identify said individual.
Sources: https://mullvad.net/sv/faq.php#teredo https://mullvad.net/sv/teredo_disable_win.php (Both in Swedish)

-- Tegel (Talk) 16:34, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

This IP number make a vandalism. --This unsigned article written by: User:Aguzer 16:32, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can see the user from the IP-address is adding a comment regarding his block that you remove. Why?
Then you removes all the comments that you have added, even after other users has commented, based on your comment. Why? That probably makes the discussion looks strange, because other users has commented on something that is not there any more. My recommendation is: leave other users comments alone and don't remove your comments after someone has replied. -- Tegel (Talk) 16:43, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have a message page, hi. But You: Why, I: I want. --This unsigned article written by: User:Aguzer 21:12, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You asked the question here and to keep the discussion together I answered here. I don't know what policys you have on the Turkish Wikipedia, but this is Meta. Don't remove other users comments unless it's considered vandalism. And I can't see that this is the case here. Don't remove your comment after other user has replied. And edit warring is not the answer to the problem. -- Tegel (Talk) 17:14, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

problem

Hej,

GREENHOUSE TOURISM

Dear Tegel, I am requesting you to guide me on how I can commence data on the subject of Greenhouse Tourism, it was developed and introduced to model tourism response to Climate change I am requesting that you guide me how I can follow rightful procedure.89.240.40.131 20:00, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The first I can say is that Meta (this wiki) is the wrong place. This wiki is for coordinating thing among all the Wikimedia wikis. It's not a place for an article. If you would like to promote a company that works with green tourism then it's better to use your own webpage. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia. If the topic is relevant for an article on Wikipedia is depending on the different criterias specified on each wiki. See List of Wikipedias for a list of all Wikipedia in different languages. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:12, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You where editing the talk page that belong to the user "GREENHOUSE TOURISM". If you are that user, then I would recommend you to use your own web page. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:20, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am requesting that you assist in my providing me strategy for developing and posting data on Greenhouse Tourism concept derived specifically to model tourism response to Climate change

please looking forward to hearing from you

Dear Tegel I was invited to post this Concept by Wiki padia please see the weblink http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:GREENHOUSE_TOURISM, I also received information from Stephen PHilbrik of the Wiki information team to go a head to post data, I am requesting that you assist and provide me with correct data, please the concept I am developing is Greenhouse Tourism and not Green Tourism.

That is a welcome message given to all new user. Please read Meta:About regarding what Meta is ans is not. You are probably looking for Wikipedia, the encyclopaedia. All of them work (auomatic log in) but the meta account doesn´t work. I even cannot log in, because it says, the password is wrong. (It isn´t, because it works on all other projects). Who can help me? Please answer on my disk (german account) Thanx. Partynia --178.26.64.20 20:47, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see that it's been brought up on Steward requests/SUL requests. I can't help any more than the help that you already got, but I could recommend Meta:Changing username for a local rename of the account. -- Tegel (Talk) 17:23, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Eco-yourism

This is EdwestminsterEdwestminster (talk) 11:45, 12 March 2013 (UTC) a new Editor, who is an amateur, I am interested in Tourism and Environmental Management I would like us to discuss on some issues related to Tourism development There are two concepts that I am disagreeing with what is Eco-Tourism and Wildlife Tourism in Wiki Encyclopedia as far as i am concerned the two concepts are actually one. And they do not vary in any way in terms of Science and Economic interpretation.[reply]

I feel that these two concepts are going to cause confusion and eventually in the future in one being deleted and I know that the Wildlife Tourism strand will be eventually deleted because the official name within UNEP and World Tourism organisation is Eco-Tourism.

I wanted us to discuss this topic comprehensively,

Hi. Based on the history of contribution from the IP-address I don't think that the block is unfair. But I have changed the block so you can login with your account and continue to edit. -- Tegel (Talk) 10:48, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but the block was unfair for me. I am seen that IP is used for all schools from w:Galician, because 1 hour my computer is using 85.91.85.225 IP. And it also used 85.91.87.245. Regards. --Vivaelcelta (talk) 10:53, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
