I support the proposal to have Wiki presence at FOSSCamp as it's all happening in a relaxed and laid back environment where participants can learn on their own pace and contribute as well. Nafie has been enthusiastic about leading efforts and has always delivered great results in past events. Her curiosity is her greatest strength and I think FOSSCamp is a great opportunity for her to gain experience, but also help others help Wikipedia as well. This is a draft submission to the Wikimedia Participation Support program. It's not yet ready for review, so there is no need to comment just yet.
Proposed participation
I am an active Wikipedian focused in growing SQ Wikipedia and also focused in adding geo-location not only in SQ Wikipedia. I'm accepted to take part in "FOSScamp Syros 2017" where I will host two workshops and also will be part of organizing team of a small wiki-expedition where participants will be moving around Syros to take photos and add geo-location.
Goal and expected impact
As a result of my workshops the people participating will know how to edit wikipedia and adding geo-location of places. Also mostly of the places in Syros will have articles in SQ Wikipedia and EN Wikipedia with geo-location and very hightly quality photos.
Budget breakdown
- Travel (round trip with bus from Tirana to Athens and Athens to Tirana) ( http://albatrans.al ) : 50 Euro
- Travel (round trip with ferry from Pireaus to Syros and Syros to Pireaus ) ( https://hellenicseaways.gr/en/ ): 63 Euro
- Accommodation: Euro 15 per night x 7 nights = 105Euro
- Food : Euro 20 per day 7 days=140 Euro
- Participating Fee (https://eventyay.com/e/45352e0a/) =40 Euro
Other instructions
I would be very grateful if this request is approved to have advance reimbursement. Being a student doesn't allow me to cover my expenses so if I don't have advance reimbursement I won't be able to join the event.
