Community Wishlist Survey 2017/Archive/Establish fund for those, who work with community

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Establish fund for those, who work with community

NoN Proposes financial/cultural change rather than a technical feature

  • Problem: Price of transporation or of some tools, bocks some people to work with community.
  • Who would benefit: Activy community, Wikipedia and Wiki projects
  • Proposed solution: We have funds, which supports development, we have fund which support people on travel on non Wikimedia events, but we dont have fund/programme to support people on travel for people, who need to meet physically community and work with them. So, I would set some roles and establish it.
  • More comments: Even we had reasearch on community, which revealed us much. We still take care of newbies and of looking for new editors. Old editors, kind of stay behind an are left. To work with these editors, may help with their survival, but also with how, they will care of new editors and adopt changes. If you want to travale and animate people to work on the crosslanguage project, you must be from a country, where is a strong Chapter, which will support you - otherwise your activity is lost.

Community discussion[edit]

Hi Juandev, this proposal doesn't fit the purpose of this Wishlist Survey. We're looking for ideas for features or fixes that our development team can build. Our team doesn't financially support community projects; I think what you're looking for is the Grants process. I'm going to move your proposal into the Archive. Thanks for participating in the survey. -- DannyH (WMF) (talk) 23:37, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
