  • Problem: It would be nice to have a Wiki command {{Clock|Form|Country}} Template:Clock to include a live analog clock in Wikipedia pages.
  • Who would benefit: All Wiki Pages talking about a country or a city could include this watch.
  • Proposed solution: As Clock presentation one maybe could use the famous Swiss Railway Clock
    Actual time in X-Land

Discussion[edit]

  • Also I would love to have this on my userpage:) I don't know how technically feasible it is, given the issues with server caches, the way mediawiki deals with storing pages and other technical barriers that make it more or less impossible to have an accurate time on a wikipage. It might be a bit of a big ask. A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver (talk) 11:56, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
  • You can already do this in JavaScript. There is no need for Community Tech to implement it. MER-C (talk) 12:30, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
How? (yep totally asking for my userpage) A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver (talk) 14:59, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
@Hp.Baumeler and A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver: There are these existing templates on Enwiki, which could be copied to your homewiki w:en:Template:Clock, w:en:Template:Digital clock and date, w:en:Template:Calendar clock with Wikipedia stats and w:en:User:Shardsofmetal/Clock (analog), and a few more in w:en:Category:Clock templates. @Hp.Baumeler: Oh, I read the proposal and first comment too quickly. I now see that you specifically meant a template to use in article pages, and not userpages as the templates I linked above are intended for. However, technical editors at your local wiki should be able to help you create a template or infobox parameter for this, using JavaScript - see equivalent templates w:en:Template:Current minute in time zone for example code. Note, it would only work for readers who have JavaScript enabled. I will archive this proposal, as it doesn't require Community Tech to implement it. Thanks.
