[edit]The Africa Wiki Women Skill Up Workshop is a capacity-building initiative designed to equip women and aligned individuals across Africa with essential skills to contribute effectively to Wikimedia projects. This workshop focuses on enhancing digital literacy, research skills, and technical proficiency to improve content quality and participation in Wikimedia platforms, while actively working to bridge the gender gap in Wikimedia projects.

[edit]- Strengthen participants' ability to edit and create content on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and other Wikimedia projects.
- Promote gender inclusivity by encouraging more women to engage actively in Wikimedia activities.
- Address and reduce the gender gap in Wikimedia projects by increasing the representation of women and their contributions.
- Provide training on sourcing reliable references, content verification, and fact-checking within Wikimedia guidelines.
- Enhance collaboration and networking among African women contributors within the Wikimedia ecosystem.
Target Audience: The workshop is open to women and aligned indivudals from diverse backgrounds, including students, researchers, journalists, librarians, and digital enthusiasts passionate about contributing to Wikimedia projects.
