    The Africa Wiki Women Skill Up Workshop is a capacity-building initiative designed to equip women and aligned individuals across Africa with essential skills to contribute effectively to Wikimedia projects and the society at large. This workshop focuses on enhancing digital skill, research skills, and technical proficiency to position women to lead change in their society , while actively working to bridge the gender gap in Wikimedia projects.

    • To strengthen the capacity of African women and aligned individuals to contribute meaningfully to Wikimedia projects through targeted skill-building sessions.
    • To bridge the gender gap in the Wikimedia ecosystem by empowering more women with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to become active contributors and content creators.
    • To promote inclusive participation and representation of African women’s narratives on Wikimedia platforms, thereby amplifying local voices and knowledge.
    • To cultivate a new environment of female digital leaders within the open knowledge movement who are equipped to drive social change in their communities.
    • To foster collaboration, peer learning, and knowledge exchange among African women across regions through the Wikimedia ecosystem.
    • To increase awareness of the importance of gender equity in digital knowledge production and inspire long-term engagement in open knowledge advocacy.

    Target Audience

    The workshop is open to women and aligned indivudals from diverse backgrounds, including students, researchers, journalists, librarians, and digital enthusiasts passionate about contributing to Wikimedia projects.

    How to Participate

    Interested participants can register via monthly registration link to secure their spot and contribute meaningfully to Wikimedia projects.

    Join us in shaping the Wikimedia landscape by amplifying the voices and stories of African women and closing the gender gap!
