AWA Inclusion and Climate Justice Project 2025/Overview & Training schedule
Overview
[edit]The AWA Inclusion and Climate Justice Project 2025 is designed to close content gaps and amplify African voices on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons by creating, reviewing, expanding and improving core topics relating to gender equity, climate awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, and other sustainability effort in Namibia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
The project will run from June 2025 – November 2025.

Register on the dashboard
to track your contributions and join the WhatsApp group.
Attend virtual training sessions, participate in the edit-a-thon and complete the reimbursement form to qualify for monthly data reimbursements.
Create, expand and/or translate articles and Wikidata items related to the focus area from the topic list. Edits to articles outside this scope will not count.
While publishing your edits, include this hashtag to your edit summary: #AWA-ICJ
Activities
[edit]Edit-a-thons: Virtual edit-a-thons which will focus on creating and improving articles/items about gender equity, climate awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, and other sustainability effort in Namibia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
Image and Multimedia Uploads: To enhance visual representation and coverage, this activity will focus on uploading images and relevant media files related to the focus topics.
Content Translation: To promote language diversity and inclusivity, selected articles will be translated into various African local languages. This will help bridge the language gap, and bring visibility to wider audiences across the region.
