Abstract Wikipedia/Abstract Wikipedia naming contest/Basewiki
Appearance
Basewiki
[edit]A variant of the Wikicore proposal, with pretty much the same rationale.
This version has the benefit (or downside, depending on your perspective 😁) of providing a fun parallel to the whole Wikimedia vs. MediaWiki naming confusion (this time, of course, referring to Wikibase).

[edit]- This creates the Wikimedia/MediaWiki problem all over again. Harej (talk) 21:35, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I acknowledged that explicitly above. To be clear, I wasn't expecting this proposal to gain much traction, but thought it might introduce a bit of lighthearted fun to the voting process :) —Waldyrious (talk) 21:57, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- I don't see here Wikibase, more likely 'Wikipedia on the basics', so don't think this should be chosen. Lvova (talk) 12:09, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- It's high time we rename Wikilambda to FunctionsWiki, and Wikibase to DataWiki, to make things easier :) --魔琴 (talk) 18:32, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Now there, let's not get too carried away! —Waldyrious (talk) 21:57, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- I thought "Wikibase" is already in use for a MediaWiki software toolbox? So doesn't naming of Basewiki creates a confusion with it? Hakimi97 (talk) 22:27, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Indeed, that was explicitly acknowledged in the proposal presentation above :) I've now added an emoji there, to make it clearer that the idea was slightly tongue-in-cheek :) —Waldyrious (talk) 21:57, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
