Based on data obtained from the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), the Government of Sleman Regency has designated the following cultural heritage objects:
- Recording results from the Sleman Regency Office of Culture (Kundha Kabudayan).
- Categorization by the Directorate for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Museums (by typing the keyword: "Sleman").
- The page listing Javanese-language Wikipedia articles on cultural heritage in Sleman Regency can be accessed via this link.
These cultural heritage sites have been registered as part of the management by the relevant authorities. However, only a small portion of the cultural heritage objects have been documented on Wikimedia Commons. In addition, the number of cultural heritage-themed articles about Sleman Regency on the Javanese Wikipedia remains limited, with only 15 articles—less than half of the total—and even all of these are still in the form of stubs, providing readers with only a small amount of information.
Through the Adipusaka project, we have taken the initiative to document more cultural heritage sites located in Sleman Regency. Our target is to document 60 cultural heritage objects, with each object producing a minimum of four photographs. This means a total of 240 photos will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. This documentation is expected to facilitate public access and serve as a foundation for the development of related article publications on the Javanese-language Wikipedia, while also making a tangible contribution to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in Sleman Regency to the wider public, especially the younger generation.
Publications must choose an angle that aligns with public needs, namely by selecting effective media and providing responses to public reactions regarding the information, one of which is Wikipedia. Although Wikipedia cannot be used as an official reference source, its articles can serve as a “gateway” for further research, data access, and the designation of historic buildings as cultural heritage.
