(“Experience” can mean you have lived or worked there or are currently living or working there; you’re familiar with the culture and language; etc.) My involvement includes community organizing, language advocacy, and leading projects within the Igbo and broader Nigerian Wikimedia communities. I am familiar with the cultural context, languages, and social dynamics of the region, and I have worked closely with educators, students, and volunteers on various Wikimedia and open knowledge initiatives.

This regional experience has helped me understand local knowledge gaps, community needs, and the importance of creating culturally relevant content on Wikimedia platforms.

What affiliate(s) are you actively involved with? In what capacity are you involved? Do you serve in a leadership role or have you in the past? Yes, I have served on committees both within the Wikimedia movement and in other community-focused spaces. My roles typically involve planning, coordination, and supporting smooth execution of activities. Here is a concise summary:

Wikimedia-related committees: I have contributed to organizing teams and program committees for community events, edit-a-thons, and campaigns such as Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Politics Nigeria, and Igbo Wikimedia outreach programs. My role often includes helping plan activities, reviewing project needs, supporting logistics, and ensuring community participation.

Please describe any experience you have with conflict resolution and/or consensus building. Wikimedia activities. In various projects, I have helped mediate disagreements by listening to all sides, identifying the root issues, and creating a calm space for open discussion. I focus on clarity, fairness, and helping participants find common ground so the group can move forward together.

I have also supported consensus building during planning meetings and collaborative projects by encouraging inclusive participation, summarizing shared goals, and guiding teams toward decisions that reflect the collective interest. These experiences have strengthened my ability to manage tensions, communicate clearly, and maintain positive working relationships within diverse groups.

In your ideal world, what does the affiliate model and ecosystem look like? In an ideal world, the affiliate model and ecosystem would be collaborative, inclusive, and designed to help every community—large or small—thrive. It would look like this:

Clear roles and structures: Affiliates (User Groups, Chapters, Thematic Orgs) would have well-defined purposes and support systems that match their stage of growth. Equitable access to resources: All affiliates, especially those from emerging regions, would have fair access to funding, mentorship, and tools needed to succeed.

In your ideal world, what are AffCom’s roles and responsibilities in relation to the movement and affiliates? Guidance and mentorship: Helping new and emerging affiliates develop strong governance, leadership, and long-term sustainability.
What role within AffCom are you most interested in: advisory or voting member? Promoting equity and inclusion by helping emerging and underrepresented communities access resources, recognition, and opportunities.
