Affiliations Committee/Resolutions/2025/User Group recognition interval period

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Whereas, the Affiliations Committee wishes to clearly define an interval period for between the Affiliations Committee's rejection of a group's application to become a Wikimedia User Group and when they are allowed to submit another application to be recognized as a Wikimedia User Group;

Whereas, a 6 (six) months interval period between the actions above has been informally implemented by the Affiliations Committee;

Whereas, the Affiliations Committee wishes to set this as a formal policy of this Committee so that it can be communicated for prospective groups applying for recognition as a Wikimedia User Groups and previous groups that have been rejected for recognition;

Now, therefore, it is:

RESOLVED, no group may submit an application to be recognized as a Wikimedia User Group within 6 (six) months of the date of the rejection of their previous application as communicated by the Affiliations Committee.

RESOLVED, a second (and subsequent) application for recognition as a Wikimedia User Group will only be reviewed if it clearly addresses the points listed by the Affiliations Committee as reasons for rejection in the previous application.
