Whereas:
  1. Recognizing Wikimedia User Groups is the responsibility of the Affiliations Committee;
  2. On December 31, 2013, Wikimedia Community User Group Brasil was recognized as Wikimedia User Group. The group was renewed by the Affiliations Committee for a second year which that finished on December 31, 2015;
  3. The affiliation requirements for Wikimedia User Groups include annual renewal based on the annual activities report submitted by the group.
The group's report notes several edit-a-thons held with community partners:
  • January in Rio de Janeiro with Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow),
  • March, at the Faculdade Casper Libero (a University) to improve articles on women and women's rights,
  • May at the University of Sao Paulo for researchers in brain science,
  • July in Salvador with the Raul Hacker Club targeting the gender gap, and
  • October in Sao Paulo with Think Olga (a feminist organization in Brazil)
In addition, they participated in a two-day "Campus Party" in Sao Paulo in February to introduce people to Wikimedia Commons and to teach how to upload pictures at a major event for technology with thousands of attendees daily. They also note further university activities related to political science and multimedia production and a project on social entrepreneurship in a sociology and communication course at Faculdade Casper Libero.
  1. The current status and work performed by Wikimedia Community User Group Brasil have been reviewed by the Affiliations Committee;
  2. They have fulfilled the minimum requirements to retain their status as a Wikimedia User Group;
The Affiliations Committee has determined that the Wikimedia User Group satisfies the requirements for renewal of its status as an affiliate.
Therefore be it resolved that the Wikimedia User Group status of Wikimedia Community User Group Brasil is hereby renewed through Feb 16, 2017.
