Executive Director

Ruby D-Brown serves as Executive Director of Africa Wiki Women, providing strategic and operational leadership for the organization. She is responsible for advancing AWW's mission and strategic priorities, supporting organizational growth and sustainability, strengthening partnerships, overseeing program implementation, and representing AWW within the Wikimedia movement and the broader open knowledge ecosystem. The Executive Director works closely with the Management Team and the departments they oversee to implement organizational priorities and support community development.

Biography

Ruby D-Brown

Executive Director, Africa Wiki Women

Ruby D-Brown is a Wikipedia volunteer from Ghana, and an open knowledge enthusiast, Wikipedian, and women's and climate advocate with a wealth of experience in project and program management. She has been an active editor on Wikipedia since 2019, has contributed to numerous Wikimedia projects, and has organized several campaigns within the movement.

Ruby's expertise in developing and implementing Wikimedia movement campaigns, programs, and projects was recognized when she was selected as a WikiForHumanRights Fellow in 2022. As a Fellow of the WikiForHumanRights campaign, she worked with the global Wikimedia community. She has acquired skills and movement experience across a multicultural landscape, including the African continent. Ruby also has a background in monitoring and evaluation, and her contributions to evaluating community programs and projects significantly strengthened the Open Foundation West Africa (OFWA) community during her time on staff there.
