ウィキメディア財団のプロジェクト群では人望のある利用者の小グループを裁定委員会（略称「ArbCom」）と呼び、ウィキメディア財団の個々のプロジェクトで紛争が起こると解決役として機能しています。規則と方針や手順は地域や文化の状況に応じ、プロジェクトによって異なります。ウィキメディア利用規約によると、利用者は紛争解決に裁定委員会（ArbCom）を介する義務はありません。[1] 裁定委員会を採用した最初のウィキメディア・プロジェクトは、ウィキペディア・スウェーデン語版でした。[2] The English Wikipedia ArbCom was created by Jimmy Wales as an extension of the decision-making power he formerly held as CEO of site-owner Bomis Inc., to take over his role in resolving complex disputes between users.[3] 裁定委員会は現在、12言語版のウィキペディアで採用されています。
構成
委員会は主として5～15人で構成され、裁定委員として知られています。任期は概ね3年程度で様々な期間があります。
