Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
How to create and build up an encyclopedia? Wikipedia showed the way, with a maximum of openness and freedom as it is understood by the Wikipedians. English Wikipedia and German Wikipedia are great examples how this traditional 'Wikipedia model' can turn out. But what about smaller linguistic communities? Wikipedias in lesser resourced languages struggle to repeat the Wikipedia miracle. And maybe that is the problem: the 'Wikipedia model' might not work for all communities.
In 2014 I became the co-founder of a new wiki encyclopedia, the Klexikon in German. It serves to children in the age of seven to 13. The Klexikon differs in some regards from Wikipedia, carefully selecting new lemmata and focussing on quality, not quantity. This worked: within a couple of years, we established the Klexikon in the world of German children's websites.
We imagine that other communities with limited resources face similar challenges, and that the lessons from the Klexikon are useful to figure out a new approach.
