AvoinGLAM 2025

In 2025 AvoinGLAM focuses on bringing the Wikidocumentaries project our of beta, working on public policy advocacy and the revamp project of the GLAM-Wiki pages on Wikimedia Meta. In addition we have a basket of leads and ideas in development that we wish to develop further.

Wikidocumentaries

The Wikidocumentaries project will be brought out of beta for welcoming developer and contributor communities to join crafting it.

Public policy advocacy

AvoinGLAM co-leads the Finnish Advocacy Network of openness organizations for public policy advocacy. The initiative includes the maintenance of the network and a campaign for creative advocacy (OKFI lead). Public domain is a key topic in advocacy and public policy work in 2025, and we will contribute to activities highlighting and celebrating public domain. The Public Domain pages are one of our contributions to the topic.

TAROCH

AvoinGLAM joins the TAROCH Coalition lead by Creative Commons, and the Advocacy Planning and Materials Workspace: a workspace to support Coalition advocacy. The mission of the initiative is to encourage UNESCO Member States to elaborate and adopt an international standard-setting instrument (a recommendation or other non-binding instrument) to promote and encourage open solutions to better access cultural heritage in the public domain.

Support for GLAM-Wiki Global

AvoinGLAM supports the creation of joint resources and community building within GLAM in the Wikimedia movement.

Oulu Löyly

AvoinGLAM and partners are hosting a 3-day think-and-do fest in Oulu in June 2026 as part of the Oulu2026 – European Capital of Culture programme. The theme of the festive year is cultural climate change and we embrace it with open culture!

AvoinGLAM meetings are open for anyone to attend. There is no formal membership. We invite anyone to join Open Knowledge Finland as member.
