Wiki Warriors Training is Boli Cheto Foundation's strategic programme to strengthen Wikimedia’s Knowledge Equity in India. It is a residential capacity-building program that brings community members from historically marginalised backgrounds into the Wikimedia movement, not as subjects of documentation, but as its authors. Over three days, participants build the confidence, skills, and community to contribute to Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikimedia Commons, and related platforms in their own languages, on their own terms, about the knowledge that only they can bring.

Local Relevance

[edit]

Gondi Wiktionary currently holds around 1,000 words. Kolami Wikipedia has around 400 articles. Through this program Boli Cheto seeks to build the capacity of the community members from Gondi & Kolami communities to enable them to contribute to the Wikimedia movement.

Vision

[edit]

A Movement that does not just welcome underrepresented communities as contributors, but is genuinely shaped by them, their languages alive in Wiktionary, their histories present in Wikipedia, their ways of seeing the world visible in every photograph archived on Wikimedia Commons.

Knowledge equity is not a milestone. It is a direction. And every entry made, every word documented, every image shared through this programme is a step along it.
