Wikimedia Foundation Visita o Brasil em Junho de 2011!
Em junho de 2011, Barry Newstead, a Jessie’Wild e Carolina Rossini estarão no Brasil para uma série de atividades do Brazil Catalyst Project, reuniões, palestras e eventos. Começamos a construir a minuta da agenda nesta página e gostaríamos de contar com a colaboração de vocês.

As cidades a serem visitadas serão São Paulo (de 22 a 25 de Junho), Porto Alegre (de 28 a 30 de junho) e uma terceira (de 26 a 28 de junho) que ainda está por decidir. A ideia era ir para Salvador, mas em função dos feriados para festas juninas, decidimos cancelar essa cidade e pensar em outra. Desta forma, a cidade em vista – em funcão de prováveis reuniões por lá – é Curitiba, ainda por confirmar.

Desta forma, este anúncio/chamada tem o objetivo de:

  1. CONTRIBUA COM A AGENDA: Pedir sugestões para a nossa agenda. Tais sugestões podem ser dadas na página de discussão da agenda
  2. ENCONTROS COM A COMUNIDADE: Começar a organizar encontros com a comunidade de Wikipedistas e Wikimedias das cidades que vamos visitar;
  3. WIKIPEDIA NO FISL: Pedir a ajuda de voluntários para as atividades que vamos realizar no FISL, em Porto Alegre. Além de uma série de palestras que estamos organizando com os coordenadores do FISL, conseguimos agendar algumas horas por dia nos computadores do FISL para dar treinamento de como editar e contribuir com a Wikipédia.

Os interessados em contribuir com os ítens “ENCONTROS COM A COMUNIDADE” e “WIKIPEDIA NO FISL” podem escrever para mim no carolrossiniatwiki [at] gmail [dot] com c/c para a Jessie no jwild [at] wikimedia [dot] org e colocar seu nome, contato e disponibilidade de tempo nesta pagina.

Tais encontros com a comunidade também servirão para discutir programas na área de educação, como dos embaixadores, e os futuros planos para o Brasil, inclusive na área de offline e mobile.

Também peço ajuda para que compartilhem essa mensagem com outros wikipedistas e com comunidades “irmãs” (cultura livre, software livre, etc, etc, etc). Acompanhe esta página para futuros detalhes.

Na boa, decidam logo, o ideal seria no bairro do Centro, pq fica bom pra quem vem de toda a cidade. Mas qualquer lugar que seja perto de uma estação do metrô também não é ruim. Falta só um dia, e vcs não decidiram ainda, assim fica difícil acreditar que vai ter mesmo e sair de casa a tempo. O Wiki-Rio 2 por exemplo, fui la a toa pq um usuário marcou num lugar que não existia, hehe... O ideal é a maioria que vai trocar telefone e avisar pro outros como encontrar, que roupa vai, ou por algum sinal pra reconhecerem, pq ninguém vai ficar perguntando de mesa em mesa "quem aí é da Wikipedia??". Afinal, chegando la, como saber quem é da Wikipedia? Como saber se vai alguém mesmo pra eu não me despencar até essa terra longínqua, num sábado, a toa? O encontro foi excelente, com a presença do Barry, Jessie e 7 outros interessados na Wikipedia, incluindo Brunoptsem, Domusaurea e N370. Após o almoço tivemos uma sessão de brain-storming que terminou às 18:30./The meeting was excellent, with the presence of Barry, Jessie and 7 other Wikipedians including Brunoptsem, Domusaurea and N370. Porto Alegre[edit]

Encontro com wikipedistas às 13h30 da quinta-feira, dia 30 de junho. O ponto de encontro é o saguão do Salão de Eventos da PUCRS.

  • FISL
    • Barry will be a keynote speaker (big auditorium with simultaneous translation) - focus: general Wikimedia Foundation Projects, the importance of Brazil, mention projects (on the 29 or 30th of June)
    • Barry will participate in a round table within the activity "beer and technology" - a round table that will happen during the evening of the 29th in a bar...(they may bring someone from Wikileaks and the focus is the impact of wikis in access to knowledge and freedom of expression)
    • Jessie will be a keynote speaker (big auditorium with simultaneous translation) - focus: education, mobile, offline (on the 29 or 30th of June)
    • smaller presentation by Barry and Jessie showing more details and demonstrating mobile and offline versions of Wikipedia. Within this one, it would be interesting to bring a technical person from Wikimedia Foundation via remote participation for a more technical Q&A element in the session (on the 29 or 30th of June)
    • 2 hrs per day (both on the 29 and 30th of June) of computers exclusively for training on how to edit Wikipedia (they have 10 -12 computers for shared activities, but we would have some time exclusively booked for us and announced in the official agenda just for Wikipedia activities) This activity would include, and depend on, Brazilian wikimedians/wikipedians volunteers who would be at FISL
    • meeting with the NGO that supports FISL to discuss possible "partnerships" with the objective of engaging more software developers from Brazil within Wikimedia Foundation projects
    • Jessie would lead a meeting with professors about the Wikimedia education initiatives
    • Meeting with press
