  • Formation of CBSUA Wiki Education - October 2023

CBSUA Launches Wiki Education in Partnership with PhilWiki Community and Bikol Wikipedia Community - The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) has embarked on an exciting new initiative in collaboration with the PhilWiki Community and the Bikol Wikipedia Community. The roots of this partnership can be traced back to 2012, with conferences and training sessions involving CBSUA faculty and students beginning in 2017. Notable Wikipedians from CBSUA, including teaching and non-teaching personnel from Pili and Calabanga campuses Leah Banastao-Sumalinog, Zyra Hila, Marvin Molin, Elbert Baeta, Jenly Balaquiao, and Jerome Hipolito, have actively contributed to these engagements.

  • CBSUA-COE LitFest 2024 - May 2024

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture LitFest features translation and article writing on Wikipedia - The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture celebrated National Literature Month with a festival that included events on Bikol Wikipedia. This is part of their Wiki Education program which encourages students and faculty to contribute to Wikipedia. Over 200 people have participated since October 2023. A competition was held for writing and translating Wikipedia articles in Bikol. The winners were Delimaangelo19 and Shiela_Maulion.

  • Bikol Wikisource Training of Trainers - August 2024

Wikisource Loves Manuscripts: The journey so far and looking ahead - Spreading the spirit of Wikisource Loves Manuscripts[1] - The PhilWiki Community UG engaged with college students and teachers to grow the Wikisource community in the Philippines. Through collaborations, Bikol Central Wikisource was launched in October 2024 becoming the first Philippine language based Wikisource project. To date, the local edition has a total of 1,826 pages. One of the featured books in the Bikol Wikisource is The Enduring Poetry of Jose Rizal | Mi Ultimo Adios[2] which is part of the book of translated works of the Philippine national hero entitled Mga Rawitdawit Ni Jose Rizal.

  • 1st anniversary of CBSUA Wiki Education program - October 2024

CBSUA Wiki Education program turns 1 year[3] This year marked the first anniversary of CBSUA Wiki Education, the pilot joint program of the International Relations Office of CBSUA-Calabanga, the PhilWiki Community User Group, and the Bikol Wikipedia Community. This unique Wiki Education program integrating Wikimedia projects in instruction, research and extension, is the first of its kind in the country. To date, CBSUA Wiki Club has twenty-one members comprised of alumni, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students from 3 campuses. Twelve of its members received conference scholarship and actively participated at the WikiCommons Conference PH 2023 and GLAM Wiki Conference Philippines 2024.

  • LitFest 2025: Cabinet of Curiosities - April 2025

LitFest 2025 is a month-long literary competition hosted by the College of Education at CBSUA-Calabanga. This year’s LitFest, with its new theme "Cabinet of Curiosities" featured ten exciting events, including Dakitaramon, and Saysay using the Bikol Wikipedia platform. Around 100 participants were oriented on Wikipedia and the Wikipedia training modules last April 22nd. The two Wikipedia-related competitions ran from April 23 - 28 to continue toward the end of May as part of the Heritage Month celebration and as an extension of Feminism and Folklore 2025 campaign on Bikol Wikipedia. The event is co-organized by BSE 3A, BSE 3B, BSE 2A, CBSUA English Educators Hub, The Writers Project, Pintados, CBSUA Wiki Education, and the Calabanga Tourism Office.[4]

  • Wikimedia Japan-Philippines Friendship Editing Month - July 2025

The Student Wikipedian Community in Waseda University Tokyo and CBSUA Wiki Club became sister clubs paving way to the Wikimedia Japan-Philippines Friendship Editing Month. The Wikimedia Japan-Philippines Friendship is a project organized by Wikimedians who are active in Philippines or Japanese Wikimedia community. This project aims to enrich Wikimedia contents about Philippine or Japan and strengthen the collaboration between the two communities. Specifically, the project aims to contribute to Wikimedia projects about something related to Japan, and the Philippines. The organizers hope that this project will help Wikimedians learn about each other and strengthen the friendship.

  • CBSUA Wiki Education Program: Pathway for Higher Education - August 2025

The CBSUA Wiki Education—the first university-led Wiki Education program in the Philippines—received the Award of Excellence from the PhilWiki Community for advancing free knowledge at the Cebu WikiConference 2025 held in Mandaue City, Cebu. The event not only highlighted CBSUA’s growth and future plans, including an upcoming MOU and a Knowledge Commons initiative, but also sparked wider conversations on sustaining local Wikipedias and the vital role of human involvement in the movement.[5]

  • Basic Wikipedia Training and Feminism & Folklore 2025 culminating activity - September 2025

CBSUA Recognizes Wiki Training Completers, Awards Feminism & Folklore 2025 Winners - The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Wiki Education, in partnership with the Philippine Wikimedia Community User Group, capped its Basic Wikipedia Training Course with a culminating activity and awarding ceremony for the Feminism and Folklore 2025 in the Philippines winners on September 23, 2025, at the CHDC Conference Room. Thirty-eight out of the 54 completers from the College of Education received their certificates for completing an 8-hour training which covered the following topics: Basic Overview of Wikipedia’s Core Policies and Guidelines; Navigating and Editing Wikipedia; Evaluating Articles and Sources; and Translating Articles.[6][7]
