Russia report: Presentation of the Wikimedia RU contest in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation[edit]

On February 20 and 21, 2018, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation became the platform for the presentation of two encyclopedic projects directed by Wikimedia RU.
On February 20 at a meeting of one of the working groups, the competition of Wikipedia articles - "Discover Russia and Germany: Meet the Province" - was presented at the forum "Russian-German Regional-Municipal Partnership: Prospects for Development" in the Chamber. Member of the Civic Chamber Leonid Shafirov told his Russian colleagues and guests from Germany about an article creation marathon, which will start on May 20, 2018 and will last until October 2018.
As part of the marathon, participants will be invited to create articles on Russian and German Wikipedia about the sights of small and medium territories of the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany. The small and medium territories, according to the reglement of this competition, include settlements with a population not exceeding 100,000 people. At the end of the presentation representatives of Wikimedia RU Dmitry Zhukov and Dmitry Rozhkov discussed the prospects of the competition with the forum participants, who were very positive about the project and promised to provide all-round support at all stages of its implementation.
