ABOUT HOW IT WORKS TIMELINE GUIDANCE FAQ APPLY

Welcome to the CEE Wiki Peer Learning Exchange Program, an initiative by the CEE Hub designed to foster growth and knowledge sharing across the Central and Eastern European Wikimedia movement. This program moves beyond traditional workshops by offering on-site, in-person exchanges where newer or developing communities (Mentees) work side-by-side with experienced ones (Mentors) on real-world projects.

Whether you need to master event management, professionalize your community’s finances, or build a volunteer recruitment strategy, this program connects you with the right peers to gain practical, hands-on experience.

Explore the Program – navigate through the tabs to understand how it works and how you can participate:

This section contains the official Program Handbook, detailing the core philosophy of "learning by doing". You can learn about the two exchange formats: Mentee travels to Mentor (to observe established practices) or Mentor travels to Mentee (to receive expert help with a local challenge).

Track the journey of an exchange from start to finish. Key stages include outreach (starting in February), a one-month application window, followed by matching, panning, and the 3–5 day on-site execution. The cycle concludes with a review phase and an impact report.

Here you will find the essential rules for participation. It clarifies that the program is for groups, not individuals, and defines eligibility: Mentees are developing CEE communities not receiving general WMF support, while Mentors are established chapters or user groups. You can also find details on covered costs, which include economy travel, accommodation, insurance, and local hosting expenses managed directly by CEE Hub staff.

Have questions about visas, car travel, or what qualifies as "visual evidence"? The FAQ provides answers to common concerns, such as the mandatory requirement for reporting within one month of a visit and why participants should not book their own travel.

Ready to take the next step? This tab leads to the online application form. You will need to define specific, measurable learning goals for your community. If you already have a partner in mind, you can indicate a pre-agreed Mentor; if not, the CEE Hub will facilitate a match based on your needs. You can also find contact to the organizers and link to register for an online introductory meeting for live support with your proposal.
