CIS-A2K believes that in every experienced Wikimedian, there is a trainer. A trainer is like a candle that can light up many other candles. (S)he can inspire many other Wikimedians. The workshop attempts to groom such trainers. After three successful iterations of Train the Trainer in 2013, 2015 and 2016 CIS-A2K organized the fourth iteration of the program in February 2017.

Report[edit]

Day 1[edit]

The first day began with an introduction to the objectives of the Train The Trainer program, followed by an ice breaker activity wherein participants introduced the Wikimedian they were most inspired by. Then, the participants took the lead in presenting their expectations for the upcoming year. This was followed by sessions on WMF Grants, Essentials of Conducting an Event, Communication and Promotion of an Event, Event Follow-up and Global Metrics. Participants engaged with the resource persons during the sessions, sparking healthy debates and clarifying doubts related to their language projects. The concluded with the presentation of an event case study of WikiConference India.

Day 2[edit]

The second day involved a field trip to Cubbon Park, Bangalore where participants were exposed to conducting outdoor Wiki activities in a learning by doing module. This was followed by a session where the participants were encouraged to conduct such outdoor activities that would help them ponder on a more philosophical discussion i.e. how knowledge (on Wikipedia) reflects reality.

Day 3[edit]

The third began with another master class which detailed the various needs assessment and outreach related activities. It touched upon how surveys for feedback and follow up must be conducted in order to gauge the activity levels post an event. Participants the different projects and user groups they were involved with. The final session was on gender gap bridging on Wikipedia, both online and offline. This was enthusiastically discussed by the participants. Finally, participants were asked to give their feedback on the event.
