Preparatory Call for June Month Activity[edit]
CIS-A2K did an annonucement with the aim of celebrate June 5, 2023, as an Environment Day to plan an activity for month of June. A2K has been planning to engage communities and community members in discussions about potential activities related to Nature and enviornment. These activities will involve capturing images of the environment, uploading them to Wikimedia Commons, and adding existing photos to articles on Wikipedia. The first call was happened or schduled 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Total of 11 attendes were there during the whole converstation. The discussion was started around the activity we need to conduct in month of June but after discussing many many things everyone agreed on the same that we need to sustain a group first then should plan for the long-term activities. During an hour, the participants came forward with many ideas and which need to be done in collaborative manner. A few Wikimedians mentioned the names of the groups with who a group can do collaboration for the future activities. Yo can get notes on the etherpad.
Update on status of A2K's grant proposal[edit]
We are glad to inform you that the grant application A2K submitted to the Wikimedia Foundation for the term starting on July 1, 2023, and ending on June 30, 2024, has been approved for an amount of INR 1,75,82,400 on May 31, 2023. Mula Mutha Nadi Darshan 2023[edit]
CIS-A2K has been running a campaign cum contest in Pune in collaboration with Jeevitnadi, and backed by many other citizens and organizations like Ecological Society, Samuchit Enviro Tech, Nisarg Sevak, National Society for Clean Cities etc. in Pune. The contest was started on 15 May to better understand and document the Mula Mutha Rivers. The 'Jalbodh' project by CIS-A2K to build a water knowledge repository on Wikimedia projects is being implemented in collaboration with similar organisations active in the water sector. Mula Mutha Nadi Darshan 2023 has been starting on 15 May to 30 June 2023. During the contest, CIS-A2K prepared two tutorials for the new recruitments to understand how they can upload their work to follow easy steps. Support to Punjabi Community Proofread-a-thon[edit]
CIS-A2K is trying to take the initiative to encourage communities to take the lead on their own activities. Indian language Wikisources are growing daily, and volunteers are editing or organising activities enthusiastically. A couple of years back CIS-A2K started a national level proofread-a-thons to encourage the participation of all the Indian communities. Now, A2K is trying to support Indian Wikisource Communities to conduct their own or local proofread-a-thons for their own communities. The Assamese community already ran the Assamese Wikisource proofread-a-thon for 15 days. Now, A2K approached Punjabi Community to conduct their own event for Punjabi Wikisource. Punjabi Community is in a planning phase and they will conduct it for 15 days.
