Copyright breach is widespread in the digital era where anyone can access and share almost anything in the internet. One of the challenges of this era is how far can our laws allow the use of publicly displayed copyrighted works to proliferate the world wide web without infringing on the copyright holder’s rights.
“Freedom of Panorama: From the outside looking in.” looks into the international laws and practice as regards to the extent on how publicly displayed copyrighted works can be used by the public and the reception of this new concept in the Philippine context. It will also provide a comparative analysis of these laws and practices and illustrate examples of the challenges it is facing.
The lecture will also focus on freedom of panorama of architectural works, the most common among the publicly displayed copyrighted works, and explore the opinions of notable local architects in the Philippines and in Naga City, Camarines Sur on this concept.
