"When Can We Cite Low-Resourced Language Oral Histories in Wikimedia Projects?" by Subhashish Panigrahi

Though Wikipedia aims to become "the sum of all human knowledge," it does not allow citing oral history, a form that most of the world's communities use to disseminate knowledge. At the OpenSpeaks Archives, we are building practical tools to document low-resourced languages lacking scripts or historical writing traditions. This session would delve into the current citational barriers for oral history in such languages, particularly in Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects, and detail some of the alternate citational pathways.

15:10 30mins "Unlocking Irish Data" by Dr Abigail Walsh, eSTÓR

In this presentation Dr Abigail Walsh discussed what language data is, how it can be collected, challenges with collection and how it has been used in the eSTÓR project to support the development of technical tools for the Irish language.
