Discussion
[edit]
Comment WMHU being signed an agreement with the WMF for this banner campaign. The campaign is between 10th February and 20th May, separated into six active periods. I am a CN admin, and I can handle and administrate the campaign myself as I did in the previous years. Samat (talk) 14:58, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Central Notice admin comments
[edit]- @Samat: Hello and thank you for submitting the request. Please apply the following changes in accordance with CentralNotice/Usage guidelines:
- A banner can be displayed for a maximum of 14 days. Therefore, your proposed timeframe (10th February 2026 → 20th May 2026) is not feasible.
- The landing page and the banner are not available. Please add a landing page and a banner in line with the guidelines.
- To display the banner on the English and Hungarian Wikipedias, local consensus is required. If consensus for displaying the banner has already been obtained, please add a link to it.
- Best regards --Darafsh (talk) 23:49, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
- Furthermore, fundraising and tax campaigns need to be approved by WMF. Therefore @JBrungs (WMF):, can you please confirm the request? :) (If you confirm longer campaigns than 14 days, we can make exceptions from the standard duration time; a local announcement would be helpful in any case.) —DerHexer (Talk) 11:23, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @DerHexer, yes, the agreement with the WMF is signed. Have a great campaign everyone! Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:11, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- PS: Darafsh, the campaigns have already been created by Samat. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:35, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Dear @Darafsh:, dear @DerHexer:, thank you for your comments and instructions. I felt that it would not be good to leave the request half-finished, but I thought I could finalize it on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to other work commitments, I have only just been able to return here. Below, I will attempt to clarify the issues raised above.
- According to the agreement signed with the Foundation, a maximum 60-day banner campaign is allowed within the four-month campaign period. The total number of days for the planned active campaigns (see the Central Notice Settings box above) is 45, which has been agreed with the Foundation.
- The campaign(s) include an impression diet setting to minimise distraction (a maximum of three impressions every three days).
- I created the banners and linked them with the landing page as requested.
- I informed the Hungarian Wikipedia community about the planned campaign (the campaign is geotargeted to Hungary).
- I hope this information answers your questions. Please let me know if you have any further questions or requests. Samat (talk) 14:58, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, sure. As soon as we get the confirmation from Julia, it's almost ready to go. — I have checked it in dark mode and the white background is very bright. It might make sense to fix it. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:26, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- With Julia's approval, there is green light for this request. :) —DerHexer (Talk) 11:16, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Dear @DerHexer, thank you for your comment about the background color, I agree with you. I changed the background to #ECECEC, which works acceptably on both interfaces. Next, I will learn how to specify different background colors (I looked at the Wiki Loves Folklore banner, where this works nicely). Best, Samat (talk) 15:12, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Samat: At the bottom of the CSS part in Special:CentralNoticeBanners/edit/WMIL_Igul_2025 you can find an easy way to modify colors and image for dark mode. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:54, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
