Description - The Movement Charter Drafting Committee wants to get an early start with finding a good methodology to get movement wide ratification for the Movement Charter. The ratification for the charter itself is not expected before Jan 2024, but we would like to get feedback on a proposal for the methodology from experienced editors throughout the movement in an early stage. The banner with the invitation will only be shown to editors with +1000 edits in the last year, and the diet will be set at 3 impressions.

Discussion[edit]

Central Notice admin comments[edit]

Hi @DerHexer: could you help me with the script for this banner? I would like to have this targeted at logged in users with +1000 edits in the past 365 days only. Ciell (talk) 19:35, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ciell: Sure, it's easy to implement. I couldn't find a banner where I could add the code. Do you want me to take care of the entire creation of campaign and banner? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:52, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have not yet created the banner, whatever is most convenient for you is fine with me. Thanks DerHexer! Ciell (talk) 19:33, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: I've created the campaign, banner and preview. Please check if it looks as intended. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:20, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: Should this start tomorrow? The campaign is not enabled because there was no approval yet. ;) Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:45, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's been postponed. Thanks for checking though! I'll update the dates when I know more. Ciell (talk) 02:16, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: I've copied your data fixes into the campaign settings. Happy to enable it once you've approved it. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:20, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, it will be happening for real this time! Waiting for the MSG team to complete the translations and send me the link. Will keep you posted, but I can turn it on myself as well? Ciell (talk) 20:33, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever you prefer. :) —DerHexer (Talk) 15:07, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DerHexer and Ciell: the wikilink [[:meta:Movement Charter/Ratification]] is not displayed correctly. Doesn't matter too much since the banner text is linking to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Movement_Charter/Ratification/Ratification_methodology_review_launch anyway but it doesn't look very nice. Johannnes89 (talk) 14:29, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Johannnes89,
It's supposed to show as plain text. Can you explain to me what you mean by 'not displayed correctly'? Ciell (talk) 14:37, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is exactly my concern as I noted the notice I came here to mention this only. ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:37, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell, it should somewhat show as: please visit this page, or something so. ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:38, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! So it's not incorrect, but a conscious decision. Seeing the actual page name helps (I hope) for people to remember the page where they can go, as this banner is on a strict diet of 2 shows only. Ciell (talk) 14:40, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: It gets displayed as Please visit [[:meta:Movement Charter/Ratification]] and I honestly feel this looks not nice as @Johannnes89 feels. Can't it be put without the brackets then, if we want it in plain text? ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:42, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please visit Meta:Movement Charter/Ratification, works perhaps as a plain text? ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:44, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I indeed was not completely sure about the brackets. Would it be clear enough without, you think? Ciell (talk) 14:44, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell, I feel, yes because clicking on the banner text already takes a person to this page. @Johannnes89, do you also think same? ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:45, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @TheAafi that's what I meant. The current version without brackets looks better in my opinion, thanks for changing it @Ciell :) Johannnes89 (talk) 15:58, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Removed the brackets, it only seems to confuse everyone, haha. Sorry, my apologies. Ciell (talk) 15:56, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
