What is the purpose of Campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?[edit]
Description - As for last year ([1]), the banner will be used to inform Wikipedia readers that they can enroll in the WikiMOOC #2, a course designed by french Wikipedia volunteers, with the help of Wikimedia France (I also work on it with Jules WMFr account). We informed the community (here), there is no opposition—the community is familiar with the project . We will ask in January for a second CN round in February, as for last year. Thanks!
Metrics - Last year, the number of enrollment/day during the display of the banners was way higher than when there was no banner.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?[edit]
Banners - 4 banners, to display alternately: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

Community Feedback[edit]
- Hi @Matiia and Base: you handled our request last year, so maybe you can help us this year, if you have enough time? :)
(I added the legal disclaimer, on the four banners, as for last year.)
Kind regards, Jules WMFr (talk) 12:20, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

- @Seddon (WMF): any objection with this? Matiia (talk) 16:48, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Seddon (WMF): hi? Matiia (talk) 23:42, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Matiia: Thank you. I don't know how it works here since the new process has been added, but does the process require to have Seddon (WMF)'s authorization? He did no edit meta since 12-22-2016, so he is probably in vacation, and I'm not sure he will be back until monday 2th January, the day we need the banner :/. Sorry if my question is awkward. Best, Jules78120 (talk) 22:36, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Jules78120: Hi. I've noticed that other users ask Seddon about if a banner should be approved or not, and as I haven't created some banner in a few months, I asked him too. I've found MediaWiki:Centralnotice-template-WikiMOOC test banner and I wonder if he'll take care of this request, I don't see anything on Special:CentralNotice about this request created by him, but he maybe will use this. This request is okay for me, so I'll create it before 2th January if no objections, so don't' worry :-). Matiia (talk) 00:16, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

- @Base and MarcoAurelio: could any of you please handle this request? I don't have access to some laptop/PC until 4th or 5th January and create a CN using a mobile is hard. Sorry for this. Matiia (talk) 01:32, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Unless @Base: wants to, I'll try to have a look later. —MarcoAurelio 13:17, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- I am here to back you up in case you don't make it in time or if it is difficult for you to do too, but otherwise I am giving you the lead, sorry. --Base (talk) 14:41, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Base: I give way to you because I'll be a bit busy with other issues and since there's no HTML design of the banner posted I'll be rather slow to get this done. In any case I'll try to be around if needed. Sorry and thanks. —MarcoAurelio 15:11, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

- In progress…: [2] — I'm done with HTML/CSS part, but what still needs to be done is to find/write a script for the 500 edits threshold. Also I wasn't in the mood to do some fancy thing to have just one banner with random first line, so I've just created 4 banners. If anyone reading this feels like it must be perfected, feel free to dive into the work :) I will finish tonight or tomorrow. In worst case I will enable them for anons only. If someone wants to finish it sooner, I am absolutely fine to step aside, just leave a note so that we won't be working on the same thing at the same time. --Base (talk) 18:43, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you to both of you. @Base: is it possible to increase a little bit the line height (the space beetween lines) please? (it's hard to read as it is now). Best, Jules78120 (talk) 21:09, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Set it to 1.6em. Is it better now? --Base (talk) 13:41, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Base:: it's perfect, thank you a lot. Jules78120 (talk) 13:51, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Base, Matiia, and MarcoAurelio: the CN doesn't seem to be enabled (not checked) and I can't see the CN on Wikipedia, as an anonymous user. Can you enable it please? Best, Jules78120 (talk) 09:23, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

- Hi @Base, MarcoAurelio, and Matiia: Some people didn't see the banner at first, and I noticed that the "Limit traffic" checkbox is checked (with "30%" as value), but this checkbox wasn't checked last year. I'm curious ;): is it normal (and new)? Best! Jules78120 (talk) 11:39, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
I can only agree with Jules78120 and would also like to stress how it is important for us in the swiss french speaking community to obtain more active contributors for community building purposes. It is important for us to increase the banner's visibility. We are not asking for funds here, but actually offering a free service. This could also help as examples to show that wikipedia is not using banners just for funding.--Nattes à chat (talk) 17:20, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. I didn't set the campaign settings, but it is being custom that banners have a traffic limit set. I guess, we can disable it if we also limit the number of banners an individual can see. Joseph, can you take care of the amendment of campaign settings, please? Thanks. —MarcoAurelio 08:00, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you @MarcoAurelio and Seddon (WMF):, it would be great! Sorry to bother you with this CN :/. But for the context: we have half less registrations to the WikiMOOC than last year over the same time, with the banner, which is disappointing for us, because we (about 15 volunteers and myself) will have spent over 2000 hours to create the WikiMOOC #2, so we want to have a lot of registrations to train and retain as many future contributors as possible, in order to make the time and the energy we spent on the WikiMOOC useful. Best, Jules WMFr (talk) 10:25, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- I have removed the traffic limit now. Still waiting for the banner JS so it only displays to certain registered users. For now, only anonymous users (now w/o traffic limit) will see the banner. Regards, —MarcoAurelio 12:35, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

- Hi @MarcoAurelio, Base, and Matiia:,
As for last year, we want to do a secound round, with a different (but unique) banner: this one. Same settings than in January. Campaign duration: 5th February 2017 → 28thJanuaryFebruary 2017. Can you help us? Best! Jules WMFr (talk) 11:16, 30 January 2017 (UTC)- Without the HTML of such campaign I'm not able to, maybe Base or Seddon (WMF) can convert it and arrange the campaign. Sorry! —MarcoAurelio 19:27, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- I understand; thank you. I hope someone will be able to help us. Jules WMFr (talk) 12:39, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

- I've created the campaign and the banner (preview), however, I don't think that I'm able to create a script for it being shown to logged in users with less than 500 edits, unfortunately. Please let me know if anything needs to be modified. Matiia (talk) 20:47, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Matiia:, it's perfect :). Jules78120 (talk) 00:32, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
