  • @Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians): A few early remarks:
    • Please note that it the request was on the edge of being submitted in time. 14 days are preferred. ;)
    • Do I understand it right that for English Wikipedia and Commons the banners should only be shown in the federal states of Eastern Punjab and Western Punjab? If so, I will have to create a separate campaign for that, but it's no problem. I just don't want to do it unnecessarily. ;)
    • Please provide a text in English and Punjabi for the standard banner. A logo would also be good, but it's not mandatory.
    • Please also provide a landing page in Punjabi language. As far as I can see, only an English project page exists so far.
  • That's all manageable. Please ping me in your response. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:29, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    @DerHexer: thanks for remarks
    • Yes, the banner is for pawiki, pawikisource, Punjab, India (eastern punjab) and Punjab, Pakistan (western punjab) regions on Commons and English Wikipedia.
    • Banner text
      • en - Participate in Wiki Loves Punjab 2026 (Let's document Visuals from Villages of Punajab)
      • pa - ਵਿਕੀ ਲਵਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ 2026 ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਉ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਤੇ ਲਿਆਈਏ)
    • Logo - File:Wiki Loves Punjab 2026 logo.svg
    • Landing Page (pa) - c:Commons:Wiki Loves Punjab 2026/pa

@DerHexer: i have also updated the changed timeline of Campaign. (01 February - 15 March 2026) --Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) (talk) 07:40, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians): Settings turned out to be more difficult than expected.
But I think I got it right: This campaign and banner (English, Punjabi preview) will only be shown on English Wikipedia and Commons for users with English or Punjabi language settings in Western and Eastern Punjabi. That campaign with that banner (similar designs) will be shown on Punjabi Wikipedia and Punjabi Wikisource for users with English or Punjabi language settings in all of India and Pakistan.
  • However, there are still two remarks:
    • The campaign is much longer than the recommended 14 days. You will need to notify local communities on all targeted wikis first, otherwise we have to shorten the duration.
    • The provided logo looks nice, but the text is invisible in dark mode. Please provide a dark-mode-ready version of the logo. Either one for all or an alternative that we would display in dark mode, both is fine with us.
  • Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:33, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    • @DerHexer: thanks for creating two different camapaign and banners, we can display banner on pawiki and pawikisource for all users without any geographical restriction because they are native punjabi language projects. we planned to display second banner on enwiki and commons for users in Punjab, India and Punjab, Pakistan region only because we don't want to disturb other users on big projects (wikis). hope i was able to clarify things.
    • np, we can notify if it needed for even when the banner is targeting some geo specific location only. if yes, do we need to get the consensus or just need to notify them?
    • for logo if i provide png format the logo, would that work? because that will not change in dark mode.
    --Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) (talk) 18:42, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
check if this logo would work in dark mode? (File:Wiki Loves Punjab 2026 - v2.svg) -- Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) (talk) 06:01, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians): Yes, thanks, the dark modo logo version works better. I have enabled the pawiki and pawiksource banner but only for India and Pakistan right now because of the banner coding I have used. — I have send you a link for enwiki and commonswiki village pumps where you should announce the campaign. Consensus is not needed, but there should be no serious objection. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 00:30, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @DerHexer: i have posted on enwiki and commons village pump about the central notice banner. are we all good? -- Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) (talk) 04:49, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) in the banner I see the sentence "Let's document Visuals from Villages of Punajab" . Is there a typo or the spelling for Punjab is written such locally. Also @DerHexer I see the banner in all wikipedia where I visit from India whereas the banner is requested only for Commons, En and Punjabi Wikipedia and Wikisource. Can you please have a look. Tiven2240 (talk) 06:08, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Tiven2240: Thank you so much for catching the typo and bringing to our attention. The Spelling we want to use is 'Punjab'. so the corrected banner text is
Participate in Wiki Loves Punjab 2026
(Let's document Visuals from Villages of Punjab)
@DerHexer: Could you please update correct banner text? Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians) (talk) 08:34, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Tiven2240 and Kuldeep (Punjabi Wikimedians): I have changed the text (whose wrong version was posted above ;D), and fixed the display for Wikipedia versions. It seems that you are using English language likely in your global settings; otherwise you likely would not have seen it because it was only targeting either pa or en languages.
