Discussion
[edit](I'm not a CN admin - just sharing useful tip to speedup this request - I hope). Feel free to share an explicit answer about the question 'Do you want to target users with a specific number of edits or average monthly?', in the Settings of this page. Thanks :) --ValerioBozz (talk) 11:27, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

[edit]- The same applies here about what I have said on CentralNotice/Request/Wiki Loves Ramadan 2026: Photo Competition. —DerHexer (Talk) 17:39, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: Thank you for the feedback.
- For the Photo Competition, our strategy is to target by country, with each banner appearing in the primary language(s) of that specific nation. This localized approach aims to better support the specific needs of each participating community.
- For Landing Page You can find the list of participating countries and their respective landing pages here: Participating countries.
- For banner Translations: We have prepared the English version of the banner. So I think we need you to activate the banner page so we can begin localizing it to other languages.
- For banners code, I only used HTML and CSS (wikitext for links only). and I made sure that it appears good for mobile and computer.

- I would prefer collecting the feedback and discussion on just one page, and will follow the link mentioned above by DerHexer (since that is where the most extensive feedback is already).. Ciell (talk) 12:32, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Ciell and @DerHexer, any update about the CN? Campaign already started. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 07:20, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony As mentioned, I prefer a centralized discussion. My response for you is here. Ciell (talk) 10:03, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- I share a review of the banners, landing pages and proposed settings here.
- I don't agree to the requested dates and duration, I see both these requests as one WLR initiative. What about showing both banners consecutively for up to 5-7 days? You'll need time for the translations of the Commons pages before we can enable that one anyway, and to get agreement from the communities from the project languages of the writing competition. To keep the conversation in one place, your responses are again welcome at CentralNotice/Request/Wiki_Loves_Ramadan_2026:_Photo_Competition#Central_Notice_admin_comments. Ciell (talk) 18:25, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony, @Bonnjalal00 I have enabled the banners for the writing-competition part, where both landing page + translation was available. I've kept note in Wiki Loves Ramadan 2026/Participating communities - everything without note was incomplete and I therefore wasn't able te create the banner. They will become visible in 30 minutes. All will have a single cycle of 5 impressions on both Wikidata and Wikipedia, except for English Wikipedia, where the banners only get 3 impressions (because everyone wants to include en-wp in their campaigns, plus you have the watchlist notice there as well).
- I'm calling it a day for now (this was a lot of work..) I hope everything works!! Please double check the ar-wikipedia banner, because it's always tricky to code a rtl-text on my ltr screen. I'll do a round of banner and campaign creations later this week for the photo competition. Ciell (talk) 17:36, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Ciell:,
- Thank you so much for your hard work and for getting these live!
- Regarding the writing competition, I have just updated the translation table with the button links (landing pages) for Indonesian, Urdu, Ukrainian, and Madurese. The local organizers have already translated the banners directly, so please add these remaining ones when you have a moment.
- The Arabic translation looks acceptable, so thank you. Regarding the layout: the banner is indeed a bit wide (I have prepared a version without an image and with smaller fonts more friendly for mobile photo and writing) if you can update it it will be good.
- One important issue: I noticed that the Urdu Wikipedia is currently displaying the Arabic version of the banner. I am not sure if this was a setup error or perhaps a mistake by @Fahads1982: in the local configuration, especially since the table shows Urdu isn't officially enabled yet by you @Ciell.
- Best regards, عبد الإلاه جلال (talk) 23:22, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- One more thing regarding the Arabic Wikipedia banner: could you please disable the CentralNotice specifically on ar.wikipedia.org We already have a local notice enabled there, and we want to avoid overlapping notifications. You can keep the banner active on other Wikimedia projects, or if it's easier, you can disable the writing competition banner for the Arabic language entirely across all projects, as our participation levels are already doing very well.
- عبد الإلاه جلال (talk) 23:30, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- The ar-banner is turned off now. It's very strange that is was visible for Urdu, since it only had the Arabic language selected... (sounds like a bug?)
- I'll look at the new translations later today, thanks for the headsup.
- Regarding layout: next time let's try to finalize the code before I create the banners in their respective languages because they all will need to be individually updated when code changes are proposed. ;-) Ciell (talk) 11:01, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
