What is the campaign duration?
  • 1 November 2025 - 15 December 2025 (full contest duration) for logged-in editors
    1-7 November 2025 (first week) and 9-15 December 2025 (last week) only for anonymous/non-logged-in users
Which projects will you be targeting?
  • Commons (commons.wikimedia.org)
  • Note: Initially targeting Commons only, as it is the primary upload platform for the competition. We may consider expanding to other Wikipedias or Wikidata in future editions based on community feedback and this year's participation metrics.
What languages will you be targeting?
  • English, Hindi, and other Indian languages (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi - translations in progress)
Do you wish to show banners to Logged In users, Anonymous Users or Both? Do you want to target users with a specific number of edits or average monthly?
  • Both logged-in and anonymous users (with different campaign durations as specified above)

What countries will your campaign target?

  • India

Description - This banner will be used to notify contributors of the opportunity to upload images in the Wiki Science Competition 2025 in India running from 01 November 2025 to 15 December 2025. Hindi Translation:
  • Heading: विकि विज्ञान प्रतियोगिता, भारत २०२५
  • Sub-heading: भारत की वैज्ञानिक खोजों, अनुसंधान, उपकरणों और नवाचारों की फोटो खींचें, अपलोड करें तथा साझा करें। १ नवंबर से १५ दिसंबर २०२५ तक भाग लें।

Awadhi Translation:

  • Heading: विकि विज्ञान प्रतियोगिता, भारत २०२५
  • Sub-heading: भारत के वैज्ञानिक खोज, अनुसंधान, उपकरण अऊर नवाचारन का फोटोग्राफ, अपलोड अऊर साझा करा। नवंबर से 15 दिसम्बर 2025 तक भाग लीन जाय।

Other Indian Languages:

  • Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi translations are in progress (will update soon)
  • Will request translation marking of the Commons landing page
  • Notices to Commons:Translation administrators and Commons:Translators' noticeboard will happen within 24 hours

  • @Dev Jadiya: A few remarks before we can create the campaign:
    • A banner campaign running for 1.5 months is very uncommons. Please check out the usage guidelines that recommend campaigns not running for more than two weeks. Any campaign running longer definitely has to be announced in the targeted projects, here probably c:Commons:Village pump should be the right place. This is especially important for campaigns reaching millions of readers. — Please consider reducing the campaign duration, especially for non-registered users. Maybe two windows make sense: A week for the start of the competition and another week before it concludes.
    • Does it make sense to only target the Commons community? Wouldn't you reach a wider audience on Wikipedia, for example? (Of course, this needs further announcements.)
    • When you target more than one language, you have to have the banner and landing page available in all targeted languages. In this request, only an English banner text was mentioned. Please add the other languages here. — For the landing page which is only available in English as of now, please get it marked for translation and provide the texts at least in the major languages with support of the local translation admins and through the translators' noticeboard.
    • Other than that, it looks doable to me.

    Dear @DerHexer, Thanks for your detailed feedback.
    • We can move with two weeks windows as it will be align with guidelines and a week for start and another before it concludes will suit well.
    • Yes our plan is to share with as many audience and it would be great it you could extend it to wikipedia also.
    • I have put the landing page translation request in translation community check. Meanwhile, I will also provide some of the banner translation in this page.
    • Also a new village pump discussion has been added Link.
    • I believe these updates address all the points you raised. Please let me know if any further clarifications or modifications are needed.

    @Dev Jadiya: I have created the campaign and banner (English, Hindi, Awadhi preview) for the logged-in campaign (cookie reset after a month), as well as the campaign and banner (English, Hindi, Awadhi preview) for the non-registered users, starting tomorrow for one week because of the delay in creating the campaign. Please make sure that the landing page will be marked for translation and translated as soon as possible. Please check everything, approve it and ping me so that I can enable the campaign.
