Discussion[edit]

I'm not experienced with Java but I would like for this banner to be viewable by anonymous users as well. If a small Trini flag can be added to it as well, that would be really appreciated. I know that this is a last minute request but it would be extremely beneficial to our cause if this were approved. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

  • Strong support Strong support Kearra is a Black Lunch Table Regional Representative. She has run successful edit-a-thons in Jamaica recently and we found most Wiki readers don't know they can actually edit. This Central Notice will bring readers into the editing workshop and help target a marginalized editor group.--Heathart (talk) 18:50, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support Strong support For the reasons stated above. In my experience connecting readers with local editors only deepens their engagement with the Wikimedia project. Megs (talk) 16:46, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support Strong support This looks good, and this is absolutely a unique opportunity for outreach in Trinidad, I don't think there has ever been a Wikimedia event there of any kind before. We might shorten the banner text a little. I can help to put this up.--Pharos (talk) 04:03, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support Strong support All events that support and expand the presence of Caribbean and diaspora is important to widely advertise and connect editors --Raggachampiongirl (talk) 14:22, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Central Notice admin comments[edit]

@Nikitag94: Is this banner okay with you? What should be the campaign duration? From now to March 9? Should the banner be targeted to specific countries (Trinidad and Tobago only)? Where should the banner be? English Wikipedia? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 10:29, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Martin Urbanec: That banner works, thank you! Please note the date changes that I just adjusted as well. Can the background color be red? Would I be able to add/adjust the text in the banner after it goes live? Reason being that after the first two events listed here, there will be a third one on the 23rd of March, location TBD. The campaign can run from now to March 23rd and should target Trinidad and Tobago only. English Wiki is also correct. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nikitag94 (talk)

@Nikitag94: I understand you want to propagate the next events using CentralNotice as well. However, I'd probably split it into three separate campaigns then. Feel free to list two/three (not sure how many you wish) banner texts here and respective campaign durations. I can schedule the campaigns for later events to display later (I mean, the date when a campaign starts doesn't have to be "now"). Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 16:35, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Martin Urbanec: Got it. I put the banner text and duration for the first two below:

Campaign 1: Come learn how to create and improve articles about Trinidadian artists of the African Diaspora at Alice Yard (80 Roberts St, Woodbrook, Port of Spain) on Sunday 10th March 2019. Landing Page-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Black_Lunch_Table/Alice_Yard_1 Duration: now to Sunday 10th March 2019.

Campaign 2: Come learn how to create and improve articles about Trinidadian artists of the African Diaspora at Alice Yard (80 Roberts St, Woodbrook, Port of Spain) on Saturday 16th March 2019. Landing Page-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Black_Lunch_Table/Alice_Yard_2 Duration: Monday 11th March 2019 to Saturday 16th March 2019.

The third event is still being organized. I will revisit this section and add the banner text, duration and landing page as soon as I have it. Does this work? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nikitag94 (talk)

Done Should be done. Let me know when you have text ready for the third event. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:59, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Martin Urbanec: It doesn't appear to be showing up. Tried while logged in and out.

Can you please confirm you're trying it on English Wikipedia? It's hard for me to try it, since I was unable to find a proxy located in TT. If so, please try it in an inkognito window. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:35, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Martin Urbanec: Yes, I am using English Wikipedia. It shows up now. Thank you.

@Martin Urbanec: Hi Martin, the notice for the second campaign doesn't seem to be showing up on my end. I've checked while logged in, out and incognito. Additionally, the details for the 3rd and final campaign are as follows: Come learn how to create and improve articles about Trinidadian artists of the African Diaspora at East Yard (27 Prince St, Arima) on Saturday 23rd March 2019. Landing Page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Black_Lunch_Table/East_Yard Duration: Sunday 17th March 2019 to Saturday 23rd March 2019.

@Martin Urbanec: Hi Martin, just following up on the above?

@Martin Urbanec:, @Pharos:, @Czar:, any help appreciated, today is likely fine, it worked well last week but need it up asap for next week! thanks! cc:@Nikitag94:--Heathart (talk) 15:11, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Nikitag94, Martin was not notified of your messages above, but hopefully should see them now. Please sign your comments with four tildes ~~~~, as your notifications will not trigger without it. czar 16:09, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Nikitag94: Unfortunately, I saw the messages now, after campaign expiration. I made a terrible mistake, forgot to assign the banner to the campaign :(. I'm very sorry. I've created the third campaign now. Can you please verify it works as expected?--Martin Urbanec (talk) 17:40, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Martin Urbanec: So sorry for the late reply but yes, it does work. Thank you for this! Nikitag94 (talk) 01:38, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
