Abstract:

This photowalk aims to engage participants in documenting the rich cultural and natural heritage of Tashkent, the host city for Central Asian WikiCon 2025. This activity provides conference attendees with an immersive and visual exploration of the city, fostering community engagement and creating a unique collection of photographs that showcase the cultural and natural beauty of Tashkent. The high-quality images captured during the event will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, contributing to freely licensed knowledge accessible to all.

Special requirements: Local volunteers/guide and a room/place for about 15 minutes for orientation and guidance.

Note of Caution for Participants:

Please be aware that Uzbekistan does not have a "Freedom of Panorama" law (please read further). As such, photography of certain public buildings and monuments may require prior permission. We advise you to avoid photographing government-owned structures or locations without confirmation. Always seek proper authorization in advance to avoid any issues.

Additionally, please be mindful of local regulations and respect the privacy of individuals when photographing in public spaces.
