Abstract:

All wiki editors write and improve articles. But there are also other activities that can be done to develop the community and improve the Wikipedia in each language: planning which articles to write; categorization; developing editorial policies; attracting new editors; raising the profile of the wiki among potential readers; measuring the content's quality; collaborating with wikis in other languages; organizing real-life events; and more. This session will try to discuss those various activities and propose experience from other communities around the world.

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central Asia?

The editions on Wikipedia in all the languages of Central Asia have considerable amount of articles and active communities, and all of them are ready to develop further. They have the advantage of multilingualism, which allows them to learn from the experience of each other, as well as from other languages, such as Russian, English, and perhaps also Turkish, Persian, and others. The time is ripe to develop them further.

The presenter is equally comfortable in Russian and English and will accommodate the language to the participants.
