| Abstract:
The text shown on every wiki site comes from two sources: the content of the wiki pages and the software user interface strings ("messages"). All editors know that they can directly contribute to the content of the wiki pages in their language, while the editing of the user interface strings remains somewhat obscure to most people. The truth, however, is that doing it is almost as easy as contributing to wiki pages once you learn several simple skills, and it is just as important. This workshop will quickly demonstrate how to maintain the software user interface in your language easily and effectively. |

| How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central Asia?
A complete and continuously well-maintained localization can contribute a lot to the cohesion of an editing community in any given language, and to easing the acceptance of new active participants (in fact, even though this workshop is classified under the "Technology" theme, it can also belong to something like a "Community development" theme.). It is particularly important to the languages of Central Asia, all of which are actively developing in the digital world and need a consistent and usable technical terminology. The presenter is equally comfortable in Russian and English and will accommodate the language to the participants. | |||
