The North East of India is rich in heritage and culture, yet much of it remains unrecovered due to negligence and lack of conservation. Assam, one of the North Eastern states, is known for its vibrant cultural legacy. Through this digitization program, we aim to preserve rare Assamese books and manuscripts along with re-licensed works of notable Assamese writers. This initiative will strengthen the Assamese Wikisource, empower our language community and bring remarkable progress under the leadership of a female Wikimedian as the project lead.

Since 2024, we have celebrated International Women’s Day (8th March) through the Celebrate Women Campaign with edit-a-thons, awareness programs, and Wikisource training. This year, we plan an Advanced Assamese Wikisource Workshop with cross-community collaboration to enhance outreach, reduce gaps, and strengthen our Wikisource platform. We are seeking this grant to overcome financial challenges in covering basic event needs to set a milestone in community collaboration and growth of Assamese Wikisource.
