Museums are powerful non-formal learning spaces, yet in India, they often remain inaccessible to marginalized and differently-abled audiences. Visually challenged children, in particular, are excluded from mainstream museum education due to the visual-centric nature of exhibitions, lack of accessible content, and minimal use of tactile or sensory interpretation tools.

This project aims to address these challenges by:

  • Creating arts-based educational workbooks (in English, Hindi, and Braille) inspired by museum collections of Delhi NCR (National Museum, NGMA, Gandhi Smriti, and Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya).
  • Organizing guided sensory museum tours for visually challenged school children in collaboration with Neev Shakti Sanstha, Ghaziabad.
  • Building capacity among museum educators and special educators to use inclusive, sensory, and arts-based learning methods.

Through these interventions, the project intends to:

  • Bridge accessibility gaps between museums and visually challenged children.
  • Encourage the inclusion of disability narratives in museum education.
  • Foster collaboration between museums and Wikimedia projects to expand public knowledge around accessibility, heritage, and inclusion.
